Waterboat men in the pool
We seem to have literally hundreds of baby waterboatmen in our pool, they seem harmless but there are a lot, any ideas how to get rid please?

Just scoop them out with your net and then keep an eye open for Mummy Waterboat woman and try and catch her before she does her "thing"

How lovely we always had them in our ponds in Uk have not seen them here though - am suprised they can tolerate the chlorine!

I did see more of them when I used Zerochlor, but still see the odd 'Chlorine-resistant' one around!ozankoys wrote:How lovely we always had them in our ponds in Uk have not seen them here though - am suprised they can tolerate the chlorine!

It's not what they drink put what passes through them that concerns some I guess...SpongeDiver wrote:Don't worry, they won't drink much!

You can be sure that what exudes from a single human swimmer, or his dog, is a damn sight more noxious than several zillion Waterboatmen turdies!

If they are on the surface of the pool they may be pond skaters.

There's a type that will give a nasty bite which are also called backswimmers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notonectidae
Best thing to do is fish them out and kill them, otherwise they will fly back in to the pool. Nasty little things.

I don't know what 'exudes' from you Roy but we don't allow our dogs in the pool and we make sure we are nice and clean before swimming..... Oh - who threw that Lion Bar in the pool?SpongeDiver wrote:You can be sure that what exudes from a single human swimmer, or his dog, is a damn sight more noxious than several zillion Waterboatmen turdies!
