Is there any way to change your vpn number without paying a monthly fee?

Are you with Multimax?
If so you will have a free VPN.
If not there are a few free VPN's but you will be bombarded with adds and poor speeds. Do a search on Google and you will see.
I used to use "hide my arse" VPN. I found it very good, but it will cost you. You could choose the country you wanted to appear from.

No, not with mutimax. I only need it to access my uk library account to read books. Just thought somebody might know how to do it for free. Have googled it, but you have to pay on most sites.

Just a reminder, not directed at the previous posts...

If you are intending to use a VPN to access UK services, remember to check that the VPN that you choose will actually give you a UK I.P. address! - I know that it sounds obvious, but if you don't get a UK I.P. address, then it won't do what you want it to do.

Yes, I noticed that when I followed your link, it looks like a really good option (although I haven't tried it).

The intention of my post was to remind people to check that they had actually selected a VPN that would give them a UK I.P. address, as a USA or Canadian VPN / I.P. adress wouldn't help much if they were trying to access their UK library account

Do you get a choice of server location with the free version of Hidemyass.com? - or is that only a paid-for service?

This VPN works very well from all around the world ,where we have used it. The downside is that the pass code provided changes daily.

Although I am not an expert,I do believe you get what you pay for. From my understanding a free VPN will be restricted by bandwidth thus being slower because to all intent and purposes it's over proscribed.Paid for VPN providers invest money into more bandwidth which doesn't come cheap. Most free ones will use PPTP which I believe is not as secure as L2TP or open VPN.
If your paid for VPN does become slow you can change the server to give a different IP address,I am not sure that this facility is available on free VPNs.
Also if you are having problems with a free VPN will you get free support from the supplier.Paid for should offer free support.
For me paid for VPN is the way to go,it only cost about £4 to £5 or equivalent a month.
I have all my devices routed through a paid for VPN and very rarely encounter any problems.
As I say I am no expert and I am sure somebody more knowledgeable than me will be along to give their view.

Hi guys, sorry to hijack the thread, but what's this business of "Library Cards"? I've never heard of it and I'm an "reading addict" I get withdrawal symptoms. I've tried Amazon Free Books but they really are a load of rubbish "my apologies to those who love them" and find the books I want to read are a bit expensive. I have tried downloading books from a lovely lady at Lambousa, and it works perfectly. trouble being you get about 12 books all by the same author and I get a bit fed up with that. Any information re this Library business would be gratefully received. Isn't Kibcom wonderful?

Hi. I joined a library before when I lived in the uk. You could borrow books via the Internet libary website. You just enter you libary PIN number. But you have to live in the up to do this, so by changing your vpn to a uk one, you can still access the uk libary. I, like you download the free books on Amazon, but find it hard to find a good book to download for free.

Hi,

I am with multimax and have a vpn with them but have forgotten the password. Is there some way of finding out what this is
or creating a new one?

Hi, I am with Multimax and thought we had a free VPN with it but have had problems when trying to access, for eample BBCiplayer which recognises I am not in the UK. Should I be contacting Multimax or is there something I need to do?

Hi,
erol did post a while ago to say that although Multimax do try to keep up with the changes that the BBC make to their server addresses, sometimes they lag behind, and at those times you will find that using the manual VPN (for which I've just given the log on details) will rectify the problem. Don't forget to disconnect from the vpn when you don't need it, otherwise it will slow your connection unnecessarily.

A search of the forum will give instructions on how to install the vpn if you're not sure...
