Or it could just be the local rivals settling there own scores,,which has been happening for years including the odd murder.

Emphasis on the word Speculative. As Lottidotti says, more likely to be rivals having a pop at each other. Do you honestly think that ISIL actually "warns" people first. I think not.

I feel it's far more likely that the culprits think that by pretending to be ISIL/IS/ISIS their attempts at extortion will have extra 'oomph'. Loads of would-be extortionists pretended they were IRA Provisionals etc.... What better way to get people worried than to claim you are part of a totally scary group willing to die for a cause...

Whatever this is, and however speculative or even made up, news like this could end the tourist trade in a heartbeat.

We know of people who already won't come to Cyprus because of how close it is to Syria, or won't transit through Istanbul.
The wife keeps complaining I never listen to a word she says ............. or something like that.

I think that's a bit extreme brian 240001. Its like someone saying a few years back "I won't go to Liverpool because of its closeness to Northern Ireland and the IRA" As for not going through Istanbul, words fail me.

I have had said to me from people who know I am going to NC in December "it's too near Syria for me" the same when I have mentioned going to Turkey.

If news reports are true then people who are afraid of coming here will have more to worry about in the UK shortly. A lot of those refugees are strong young men and apparently ISIS foot soldiers infiltrating Europe, according to press reports recently.
Possibly naive to feel safe anywhere but I feel safe here in North Cyprus.

I've got a mate coming over from the UK on Sunday. His company is called isis and he wears the tshirts with the logo quite often.

Should be an interesting trip through customs.

Hedge-fund, is your mate coming from Swindon? I used to fish with the Isis team on the Thames.
