Seen this morning at Army camp Karsiyaka Some nice person!!!! Dumped a lemon and white intact male pointer from a white car. The dog problem here will never get solved as long as people carry on thinking behaviour like this is acceptable. I would guess someone has moved it on from where they live to somewhere they know expats walk their dogs.

I am a true dog lover, having owned dogs for 50+plus years, preferring dogs to most people, (dogs to not lie to you and look you in the eye at the same time.)
My third time over this year, and the roaming dog packs seem to be on the increase.
This is very hard for me to say, but there needs to be an island wide cull of stray dogs, I know the flak will start coming, but if anyone can offer a viable solution, then let me hear it.

No flak but unfortunately the dogs who have become 'street dogs/pets' and cope with life on the street get involved in the round ups when they occur. I just wish people were allowed to act responsibly if their own circumstances change, I would rather all of mine put to sleep than abandoned but others will disagree saying who am I to make this decision of taking their lives.

I totally agree and I never thought I'd see the day when I thought that way but if ever anything were to change drastically with our situation I would rather ours were put down, if they were dumped they would be bereft and I suspect wouldn't survive long anyway. However I really couldn't ever see us just leaving them it's just such a cruel thing to do. The number of strays does seem to be increasing again and you feel there are less people about willing / able to adopt them.

It's what they did in UK. I remember as a child there being loads of strays and then they rounded them all up and euthanised those they couldn't find homes for and so it continues!

It is what is needed here, but as many of the locals don't believe in euthanasia, it's unlikely it will happen. I do wonder though why euthanasia is considered wrong, but dumping helpless dogs/puppies, cats/kittens is ok!!
