Advice please, Husband has been diagnosed with Tendonitus (has bad knees too) & we are due to fly soon with Turkish. He can walk but struggles with any distance. All the airports seem you to need to walk miles to get anywhere these days!! Has anyone organised assistance, how do I do it? Can it be left till check in at Ercan (which we can cope with as its not a huge one.) Thanks Folks.

Choose your spouse, friend, relative, in difficult days. On a good day, no one shows their purity.

Just give them a call and let them know of your needs - they will generally request a certificate from doctor allowing you to fly when you request assistance. Had to pay for the service in Istanbul once, but was not charged anything Ercan side for wheelchair service. You can go in and take the chair as far as the car, no problem.

Call Centre 0844 800 66 66 will help.
If the stairs are a problem, they have trucks which raise the passenger compartment on the back up to aircraft door level.
Get them to book for the whole journey. Distances in UK are probably the longest.

Having recently flown with Turkish Airlines, it is hit and miss at Ercan, had to find wheelchair. Luckily my husband was with me, At Istanbul, assisted are last off plane, so leave enough time between connections.
Have to say Laranca have a wonderful system, when I am travelling alone, you are well looked after.

Normally when you book your ticket there is a bit that you can fill in if you need assistance, then when you get to the airport, just tell the nearest person that works their that you requested assistance and please get you a wheel chair. Larnaca and Garwick are really good at looking after you (whichever airline you are flying on), and will see you through the whole procedure ( including one of those motorized vehicles) on to the plane. Don't know about Ercan though.

If you go back on line and look through your booking ticket, you should find a bit about anyone needing assistance. Hope that helps.

Olly, are TA using Larnaca? The original post stated they are due to fly with TA.

All you need to do is contact TA and request assisted boarding. They will do the rest.
I had to do this for a trip from Ercan / Istanbul / Male.
Could not fault them other than BBB had to run to keep up with me being whizzed around Istanbul airport in a motorized wheelchair!
Just let them know and ask?

BBB's other half.
