Re: KUMYALI WALK FOR SPECIAL CHILDREN - BONFIRE NIGHT ESENTE
ON 5th November, about 50 people enjoyed the bonfire evening at the Kuzzy Bar in Esentepe, raising money for the special needs school in Ziyamet.
The event was organized by Marilyn and Paul Lee, along with bar owner Ali Abanoz who provided an impressive bonfire, with excellent food and a raffle.
Earlier in the week, one of the Kuzzy Bar’s regulars sat outside the bar begging for “A lira for the guy” and on the evening everyone paid just 10TL to enjoy beef burgers with onions, pita bread and chips, cooked by Graham and Alison Bone, with the food being donated by local supporters.
All the money from the food, raffle and guy goes into the fund for the Kumyali Nature Walk which took place on 18th October to raise money for a much needed external children's playground for the Special Needs School in Ziyamet. Mr and Mrs Lee helped on the day of the walk and Mrs Lee said: “I wanted to combine having a good time with supporting these children who, at the moment, have to play inside all year. A playground will make a real difference to their lives".
The bonfire event, which was the final event for this fund raising project, raised a very impressive 1140TL.The final amount raised is 15,520TL and the organisers of the Nature Walk are very grateful for the work and commitment made by everyone involved with the bonfire and all associated events.
Arrangements are in hand to meet with the various professional bodies to establish a programme to build the playground.
