URGENT info needed please importing dog into Turkey
Hi we have booked flights on 9th November for a dog and cat who came from turkey originally and a trnc rescue dog to fly to turkey They have had their rabies jabs but I saw online that if they are entering from the UK it must be 30 days before entry
Please does anyone know if this rule also applies to animals coming from TRNC as they only had their jabs last week
Many thanks

Thanks for the link. We have already been to KAR but with everything else going on we can't remember what they said about the timescale. We can find out on Monday but already had one sleepless night

Hi Eleanor, you do not need another sleepless night, it unfortunately states quite clearly in the link that I have copied below for you "At least 30 days from Rabies Vaccination"
EXPORT from the TRNC to UK/Europe
Summary of Requirements:
1) Your pet will need the following preparations:-
• A microchip for permanent identification.
• Rabies Vaccinations
• At least 30 days from the Rabies Vaccination a Rabies Serological Test should be completed using a DEFRA approved laboratory.
2) After a successful Rabies Serological Test result your pet is permitted to travel 3 months from the date that the blood test was taken.
3) Export certificate
4) Health Certificate (Annexe 2 form) including compliance with linked 5 day flight regulation.
5) For Dogs completion of Internal Parasite treatment prior to travel.

Hi your post is confusing because the subject is 'Importing dog into Turkey' so are you going to Turkey or UK?
It would have been preferable to make sure you complied with the regulations before booking your tickets but hopefully you will be able to change them.

Hi thanks for the info but turkey is not in the EU. All I need is a certificate from the government vets 10 days before I travel and the dogs have to have had a rabies jab It is wether the 30 day rule applies or not as I cannot remember it being mentioned as a criteria

Not being picky, but while Turkey is not in the EU (European Union), part of Turkey is in Europe - how this affects regulations is anyone's guess - perhaps it would be best to actually speak to someone at KAR or an "official?" vet....Eleanor wrote:Hi thanks for the info but turkey is not in the EU......
Good luck!

Re: URGENT info needed please importing dog into Turkey
Maybe slightly off topic but my parents for the last 3 years have attempted (expense) to take their cat back therefore I have kept its rabies jabs up to date as I assume it would be just a case of producing the paperwork and going.
Therefore have your animals been vaccinated for years against rabies as it seems to indicate on a website importing a dog into turkey
An animal's vaccinations must have been administered no more than six months and no less than 15 days before travel but 30 days if its the animals first rabies jab.
It would be interesting to know because why when there is no rabies in this country bother with the yearly jab if I have to act like its the cats first jab if I want to export him.
