Not Enough
Disturbances reported amongst the Refugees in Akrotiri. Despite THREE Square Meals per day. Shelter and personal Smartphones, it appears that they Want assisted passage to Northern Europe. Not a good omen for the generous Host Countries.

Choose your spouse, friend, relative, in difficult days. On a good day, no one shows their purity.

At least the UK Government has taken a Measured approach to this crisis. It will be extremely difficult for us to Settle 20,000 persons over the period of 5 years. Just imagine the turmoil that awaits some of these Other European Nations

Re: Not Enough
When is a refugee, not a refugee. Answer, when its an economic migrant. I watched (I think it was CNN but not sure) news yesterday and watched what appeared to be fit, healthy young men pushing their way to the front of a queue in order to get on a bus first, having just refused a small bag of food being handed out by a Red Cross person. May be I'm being too simplistic but yes help the poor women, clutching on to babies, people pushing the elderly and infirm for hundreds of miles in wheelchairs, help those sleeping outside for Godsake, help little traumatised children trying desparately to get warm. NOT the ungrateful who clearly think the world owes them a living. I think the UK has it right - only take those refugees that have been through the UNHCR procedure, not the ones who consider it a case of those who can shove and push the hardest.

Re: Not Enough
Yes, the gullible people here in Bavaria, having swallowed the bilge issued by the loony left in Strasbourg, and by Merkel and co, are at last starting to realise what we are actually dealing with.
They refuse anything from the Red Cross on the grounds that the cross is a Christian symbol.
Yes, mostly not refugees at all, though the media, by order, manages to publish photos of women and their cuddly children, ignoring the vast numbers of arrogant young men.

The totally unrealistic expectations of the Opportunist Migrants will cost us dearly. When the Social & Financial burden starts to affect the " ordinary man in the street" then we will see the stark reality of the situation. Frau Merkel made a huge mistake with her premature welcome speech and since then, the EU have attempted to put a " Plaster on a Gaping Wound". Junker & Co will have to direct MASSIVE Financial Resources to this problem.

Re: Not Enough
The other sad aspect of this was something only brought to my attention a couple a evenings ago. That is, there are thousands of young children and yes, children born en route who will for the rest of their lives be classified as Stateless Citizens. Unable to call any country "home" and viewed with suspicion. Never able, legally, to hold down a job, apply for pensions, education, open bank accounts etc, etc. But, there will always be unscrupulous sharks able and ready to produce counterfeit documents at extortionate prices for those able to pay.

If you want actual information about the impact of migration on EU and other western countries over the last 50 years and I mean information based on actual studies of the data by a credible body then you could do worse that look here (pdf file)munchy wrote:The totally unrealistic expectations of the Opportunist Migrants will cost us dearly. this is probably worth a look too

The actual evidence suggests that it is entirely possible that Germany by taking a larger share of this wave of migrants may in fact increase its economic strength as a country relative to those other countries that take less.

Re: Not Enough
Fair point Erol. I agree, in the Long Term both the Host Countries and a Percentage of Refugees should benefit from this scenario. However, there are existing problems in the EU makeup which do not lend themselves to a smooth transition. In short, the EU is not "flush" with money (Germany being the exception). There are many people in Europe who are already living from hand to mouth and who are seeing the results of "overcrowding" in a negative way. We all know the outcome of a "Scapegoat" mentality. ALL Genuine Refugees must be helped, but in a controlled way, which we are only just trying to establish. My argument is , that it should all have been foreseen and planned for .
