Lapta Garden Rubbish

The previous arrangement for garden rubbish was to leave it just outside your gate and let them know. They would collect and dispose of it for a fairly nominal charge.

I was just visited by a belediye official who tells me that I will be heavily charged for loose rubbish in future and that I must rent a skip from them at a charge of 58tl. I get the impression that they will remove it after a few days whether it is full or not although that has yet to be proven. As my gardener comes once a month this could get very expensive.

They have already forced me to have a water meter that I don't want (and the associated charges) although I have no smart card and haven't had water from them for 8 years.

This is getting seriously expensive for very little in return. No street lights but I must pay, no insect spraying but I must pay - what a racket!

Was in Lapta a few weeks ago and couldnt believe how dirty it was especially the road that goes past the rose gardens ... like a third world place, pavements collapsing rubbish everywhere, empty building sites all over, not nice at all.

Lapta will let you have the skip for 3 days but once you phone to order it can take up to 3 days to receive and likewise for collection once you've phoned. If you can put your rubbish into black sacks the dustbin men will take a couple at a time.

Just come and dump it in Alsancak, right by the signs that say 'No rubbish to be dumped here'! Everyone else does.

In Kayalar, which comes under Lapta, we leave our garden waste in the verge outside our property and it is taken cheerfully by the guys who come in a pick up once a week or so, and we have never been charged extra, only if it is anything other that garden waste. EG building materials etc
We have not been informed of any change, so this is rather odd....?
