Attended my 2nd Remembrance Sunday here in Kyrenia - the entire event was extremely well attended and executed with dignity and precision (and the British Cemetery was superbly presented). I think we are very lucky to have such a dedicated team (ably led by Major Brian Thomas) who do the expat community such a great service. Well done and thank you.

I fully agree. It was a memorable occasion, blessed with excellent weather. The meal at the Ship afterwards was excellent too. Well done to all concerned.

Agreed, very well run (too much standing for elderly/partially disabled in the heat (why stand for prayers)), good atmosphere/level of respect, the Bishop was excellent and The Ship meal and staff were tops! - Very well done Brian and your team for a superb effort.

If you are elderly/partially disabled there is nothing to stop you from sitting down. Standing up (or kneeling) for prayers, if you are able, is simply showing respect - in my view.

Showing respect to who? I am a high Anglican and we always sit or kneel for prayers. Given the age of most of those attending the Girne Remembrance Service, they should be offered the same.

Thank you for your concern tomsteel but as. 75 year old awaiting a knee replacement I would rather stand than kneel and I find it respectful to stand the short time for prayers what next . Sit for the anthem as well?

Back on topic please gentlemen - it was a good effort by the organisers and the event did our community proud. Don't forget to stop and think about our fallen and those who live on at 1pm today (to coincide with 11th hour Armistice acknowledgement in UK)
