Here we go again.....another resurrected digger!!! Terry....Barry Snakes has never played on a Wednesday at Windows in the square! Average? Well that's your opinion and you are entitled to it. Average guitar player he is not, he is way above average! Come along to Tropicana on Sunday 2pm and listen to a jam session of local musicians headed by James Smile, Gavin, Andy, Ed, Koray, Barry and many others.

Well, you either like him or you don't. I happen to fall into the former category, I think he's brilliant and that we are very fortunate to have him in North Cyprus.

Does not play in Windows ?? You need to get out more as you rightly say it's my opinion and that of many others I hasten to add. I see his fan clubs awake . As for my taste in music if you class the entertainers as amazing I think the word was the then mines better than yours.

The topic was not really about likes and dislikes. He gets the thumbs up from me and also I wold imagine the people, especially kiddies whom Barry has many times jumped on board with me to work our nuts off at out own expense and given up many many hours of our time to help .

I am sure Ismail and is family are very very grateful. My music tastes differ greatly from Barry's and vice versa. But anyone can see how much talent the man has.

I thought you would be along to defend your mate and yes you do a lot for charity. It's the descriptions also th e bile if someone has different tastes. Amazing, brilliant are words I would use to describe Zakk wide,Keith Richard,George benson,Gallagher,djanjo reinhardt,Marty Friedman,frank Zappa,bucket head chuck berry and my old mate zoot money he also played a mean guitar but an even better organ.
Barry is not amazing or brilliant and if the aforementioned are then I was flattering him by saying average. But then as some people who posted before what do I know about guitar players. I think I,ll stick with mine mate, oh and can you confirm if Barry played at Windows.. Thought so and thanks.

terry I have not stated amazing or brilliant, I have just aired my thoughts on someone I have found to be a very decent guy and a very talented musician. I know nothing about Windows Bar, I have only been there once in 8 years.

Barry used to play at Windows on a Tuesday, not a Wednesday, but he is not playing there any more, and probably not again for the foreseeable future.

I don't think you have ever met or talked to Barry, and yet you are so rude about his guitar playing! I do get out...I'm out of NC for one but still retain a house there! Excellent reply Angel girl. Obviously this person has nothing else better to do than slag other people off!!!! Seriously ,he should get out more!!!! Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but you should do it in a non offensive way. Ex Army??!!!! As far as I am concerned, Barry is just amazing and a real star. Just you, Terry, watch what Bazza is going to do next with his career. I echo what another poster said. We are so lucky to have this amazing talent in North Cyprus BIG TIME. It's not about a fan club, it's about appreciating and enjoying serious talent and we have all been so lucky to see him and hear him play in North Cyprus.

Why are you arguing over whether a musician is average or brilliant, if he was so bloody good he wouldn't be living and playing in an unrecognised country, he would be somewhere else.

Terry and Jacob what is the point!!!! This post was started by Ailsa to say where Barry was playing and her opinion that he is amazing that's it! Yet once again the digs and snipes start your points are irrelevant to this post other than to show how low you can stoop as many that cant do appear to do and of course start personal negativity towards someone who can not defend themselves on here how brave of you. If he is not to your taste that's fine you dont need to go and see him play (I suspect you never have and hence probably don't actually know what he does) but there's no need to start with the negativity on a post that's about an event. However, Barry for many years is asked back to the same venues time and time again which says a lot about his ability and talent in itself, I have yet to see any other 'entertainer' pull a crowd of 100 plus (except for charity events) and how many people he has entertained who have thoroughly enjoyed his music I think that states how good he is too! Not only has Barry worked and given to so many charities out there, let's not forget the opportunities and teaching he has afforded to so many youngsters developing their musical knowledge and skills. Jacob for your information, Barry has and continues to play outside of North Cyprus unlike others out there that wouldn't even be able to get a buskers licence however for obvious reasons there is no need to advertise those gigs in North Cyprus!
Barry get's the thumbs up from me one amazing guitarist who provides quality music time after time.

Well said Mishmash. I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said in your post. These negative people should really think about taking up another hobby, instead of the one of using a popular forum to slag off and be so nasty to another person!!!!

Never been bitter or twisted in my life girls have lots of hobbies just like to point out overinflated people that have reinvented themselves as "the worlds best" and yes heard him playing often yes he plays the guitar,amazing he ain't. If being ex army offends you it shows what a bigot you are.. Mishmash, Alicia and Angel girl just read some of your other comment on Barry are you the groupie fan club? You must try harder. Also as an aside would you explain your use of the description "ex army " in this context as it puzzles me a little. And no I do not play the guitar but have been around music and very good musicians much of my life. How good is your guitar girls?

Once again Terry you appear to be unable to stay on topic and are unable to refrain from derogatory and condescending personal attacks on others. In eight years I have yet to see any advert, poster or posting anywhere at all where Barry actually describes himself as 'the world's best' as you put it, you clearly do not know the man as that would be the last thing he would describe himself as. Likewise he doesn't ram self inflated posts down our throats about what a brilliant gig he had or what a fantastic performance he done unlike so many other North Cyprus 'entertainers' no names mentioned and despite his lack of self inflated statements you continue to attack. The comments about how good he is have come from others who have enjoyed his music (they are entitled to their opinion without you criticising their taste in music) and there are many who have enjoyed his music. Thank gawd I didn't say I enjoyed karaoke would hate to think I was a karaoke groupie!!!!! You state you have seen him many times surprising really given your remarks!
The post is about an event can we keep on topic, your personal opinions that attack others are really of no interest to this thread.

As you say I am entitled to my opinion thanks for that and if you read my post I did not state that Barry had said it . Yes I have seen him in the company of Charlie the drummer who is a friend of his. As regards staying on topic let's examine the replies shall we as to who is making personal attacks.Yes I served my Queen and country and have been proud to do so I did this instead of going to university the other two friends of yours obviously do not have a good opinion of people that serve their country. Secondly who gave them the right to put my full name and profession in the public domain. Whilst I accepted the risks when I joined people I sit among in cafes did not.After the events on Friday in Paris and us being a little closer to Syria and on a direct flight path to Europe you would think they might have used the few grey cells they have before they post . On looking back through their posts especially the ones relating to other singers on the island you can see the nastiness that surrounds anyone with a different view so maybe have a word with them before criticising others. I stated to Lee that I merely pointed out the use of the word amazing and although he plays probably the best guitar here on the island amongst amazing guitar players I have head he is not. He would most likely agree himself to that point. So thank you for pointing out my apparent faults and not sticking on topic but I was merely trying to answer the insults from the others maybe you could point that out to them.
