Anyone know where I might purchase a clothes prop for a washing line. Thanks.

Pretty easy to make one with a piece of timber or for a more rustic effect a bit of tree branch. Have both of these and they do the job. If you want a real one I am guessing the yapi marketswill sell them.

A few years' ago, we searched all local yapi markets to find a prop, without any success. Then, while sitting under the Tree of Idleness at Bellapais, I noted that the owner of the clothes shop next door was using one like we were looking for. I asked him where he got it from and he said Turkey as there were none in the TRNC. As he had a couple, he sold one to me. Unfortunately, the plastic hook broke the following year.

We then brought out another telescopic one from the UK in a suitcase. To enable us to do this, we had to dismantle it a bit, cut a small length off, and then carry out a repair when back in the TRNC. It is still in good working order after nearly two years.

My dear old mum used a long specially cut piece of wood with a V shape in it, as for many years so did I. When they started to "bow", we just bought another piece and so on it went for many more years than I care to think of. Each one lasted a lot long than a year, that's for sure.

Thank you for your responses. I went to a wood yard and bought a 2.5m piece of timber. Cut a V at one end and hey presto an old fashioned clothes prop like my old mother (and Sophie's) used to have.
