Could anyone tell me please about whether you can have an immersion heater if a) you have water supplied by tank, and b) would need to use bottled gas - do not have central heating and therefore no large gas tank, just the small tanks used for cookers. Is it possible to have one installed, and if, so approximate cost? Many thanks for any replies.

I have an immersion heater and used that for my first 3 years here and I now also have a boiler. The boiler runs off the same size gas canister as my hob. I now have hot water on demand and no longer have to wait an hour for it to heat up! I still have the immersion as a back up but have not used that since I had my boiler installed. The boiler cost around £600 fitted including the cabinet it is housed in and in my opinion worth every penny.

Here we go. I had the same system as judyvin and ours is a disaster because of the shape of our property and the length of pipe run from boiler to tap(s) Can't be bothered with it anymore, so it just hangs on an outside wall doing nothing. We are an exception I know as most people seem to be very happy with theirs.

Had a long life element from "gates" 3 years ago and delighted with it - no lime scale problems.

A hermetic gas water heater varies in price depending on where it is situated and make of heater. As a guide anywhere between 1400tl and 2000tl. I have fitted a number of these and would be happy to answer any questions. suemarinaview@gmail.com
