Rental contract and applying for residency

Does anyone know: When you apply for residency and show the authorities your rental contract, does it need to be in Turkish?

No it doesn't but they may ask you to state the length of the contract.

It also has to be stamped at the tax office to show that it is registered for rental tax.

Hope you don't have the same problems we encountered when registering! We currently rent a Villa and where we told by the Residency Office that we had a buy a property in order to get temporary residency. They relented and allowed us a year's residency but said next time we renew it will be more difficult!
