Put KODI on your Computer or Laptop
thought I would make a new thread on how to get the best out of your internet, Download and install KODI onto your laptop and then download all the addons, then you can watch any Movie or TV show in the world, all the latest Movies that are in the Cinema, ie Star Wars, etc, any News channel, and even BBCiplayer, all the latest British TV series, American TV shows, just google KODI there are lots of videos on how to set it up, from your laptop or Computer you can use the HDMI cable to your TV easy, I have been using KODI for years and years, when you were able to put in into the old XBox, and the old Apple TV, they have lots of Boxe's already set up for KODI, again just google. cost around $100 but you will never regret the cost because you just plug into your TV ( using the HDMI cable ) hard wire to your modem or use the wifi, and away you go, if you want BBCiplayer you have to tick the box ( use Proxy server ) and BBCiplayer will work, sorry for the long thread but you will never regret getting KODI it used to be called XBMC but they renamed it to KODI last year. If you want to download it onto your computer or laptop just make sure you download the right version ie Windows, android, Mac OS X, Linux, Raspberry Pi, hope I have helped someone to enjoy the internet the way it should be,
Robert

Re: Put KODI on your Computer or Laptop
This is the program installed on the android boxes that are becoming available over here now sometimes called IPTV boxes, used one for over 12 months in UK and here in TRNC worth every penny £50 on ebay.
Has aussiejock has said if you are a little IT savvy you can download the program to a PC, loads of how to video's on you tube.

Re: Put KODI on your Computer or Laptop
Ok all you KODI users, once you have downloaded all sorts of junk onto your device and found that half of them don't work and that half of the half that do work you don't want or need - how do you get rid of them and start again? I am using - and have been for some time - KODI on Linux Mint 17.2 Issengard, none of the instructions for installing "Fusion" or "SuperRepo" work with this version - any suggestions??
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Re: Put KODI on your Computer or Laptop
I have been using Kodi for over 12 months now ... its ok but very unstable..links work one day then not the next.
some days lots of buffering some days not its still a bit hit and miss with it but if you get a good stream its fine ...its just finding the stream ?.
The annoying thing for me is they put up hundreds of links to a match or a movie or program but most don't work... why do they put them up if they don't work ?

Using kodi on a Amazon Firestick, but have also put it on my laptop. The firestick is more convenient for plugging into the TV or projector. A vast amount to watch, films TV shows etc. A lot does not work everything but a lot does. Excellent

Re: Put KODI on your Computer or Laptop
Using KODI and whilst not that technically challenged found it a bit of a pain to set up and get going. All the average person wants is to download the app, press GO and start using. All this configuring etc will often put people off....even with the use of a You Tube video.
I do use KODI but will agree sometimes it works other times not and quiet often after playing around for 20mins I just give up trying to find a stream that works.
Overall KODi is OK and has some great content, just wish it was easier to set up, use and would work each and every time.

Re: Put KODI on your Computer or Laptop
I've been using Kodi for a while now.
I did install a fresh version of Kodi
(no bundles of non working crap included)
Current release: Kodi v15.2 “Isengard
Select your operating system here..
http://kodi.tv/download/
I also installed a fresh version of Kodi this week on my PC, Windows 10.
Added superrepo...
Then picked the video add ons I thought would be good. (DubStop)...
From Start Page select
1 System
2 ADD-ONS
3 Install from repository
4 SuperRepo All
5 Video add-ons (this is where you can disable unwanted add-ons too! )
6 DubStop (scroll down, in alphabetical order)
7 select, enable, launch
Once launched, you can view latest added etc
Via DubStop I was able to watch/stream
Lawless Range (2016)
85 min | Drama, Western | 5 January 2016 (USA
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3060390/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt
No problems.
Hope this helps.

Re: Put KODI on your Computer or Laptop
What KODI is is a program that acts as an interface to the thousands of potential content sources out there. KODI itself has no content per se. What is more the KODI 'plug ins' that give access to the various sources of content out there are typically created by individuals for their own use and not for profit and then shared with the wider community. So there is a KODI plugin (actually there are probably more than one) for access to things like BBC iPlayer and services like filmon. These plugins will only be as good as the people who have created them (not for profit) have made them and if and when the BBC or filmon (or whatever the source is) change their systems the plugins may well need to be changed to reflect these changes in source, either by the person who originally created it or someone else and then you as the end user will need to update your kodi plug in to this new version. With plugins to 'unofficial' and especially 'free' content sources things get even trickier. There are free content sources out there that work great for a period of time, giving reliable access to good content one week but which simply disappear the following week. If you have a KODI plugin to such a service and it stops working it may well be that the source of the content has just stopped or it may be they are still operating but have changed their system such that a new plugin needs to be created and you then need to install that so that you can continue to access the content via KODI. It is a constantly shifting and changing environment out there, in terms of the content sources, the way those sources deliver their content and the software you need to access such content, either KODI itself or the specific KODI plugin for that specific content. I personally would not consider an android device running KODI to be a plug and play solution suitable for say my mother such that I could just set it up for her and that would be it. It would require ongoing attention from myself and involve too much frustration for my mother in terms of keeping track of what does currently work and what does not.thornaby wrote:Using kodi on a Amazon Firestick, but have also put it on my laptop. One option that has not been mentioned recently is Netflix. Netflix recently became available in Cyprus (north and south) so you can now access a Netflix subscription from Cyprus without the need for VPN's and the like to make it appear your are in the UK or the USA. It is not free - it is a subscription service and it does not offer 'channels' but a purely 'on demand' model. I use Netflix and for me I like the 'on demand' model and find there is enough content on it that I enjoy watching to justify the subscription. Having said that I also watch content from BBC iPlayer, All 4, ITV Player and download content as well - typically movies but also some series that were not available on netflix or other sources like BBC iPlayer (for example the recent 'Man in the High Castle' - which was only available directly on Amazon Prime's streaming TV service).

I have no problems with KODI one of the best movie plugins is Xmovie8.co every movie works first time. again I have used KODI for years and I know Every addon that's no good. I just uninstall them and every addon I have works great. I just wouldn't be without KODI and why would anyone want NETFLIX when you can watch any Movie or TV show in the world with KODI I have a very stable setup I can watch all the football from around the world, replays full games etc, any news channel every Movie, and TV show ever made. documentaries, and lots of live streaming, and the android boxe's that come preinstalled with KODI work just fine, I have two of them I also have the raspberry pi, a jailbroken Apple TV ( but KODI stopped any New versions for Apple TV so that's defunct now )
all my computers and laptops have KODI installed I use a Mac Mini for my kodi and everything just works great so I do not know why some people have bad results with KODI it just works and works great

I think its more about the setting up of it thats the problem....for non technical people its all a bit of a pain........as I said in an earlier post people just want to download the app, click and use the service....all this downloading plug ins...some which may or may not work, clicking loads of boxes, uninstalling/installing or watching a You tube video on how to set up Kodi can seem all to much.
Failing that what needs to be available is a guide which shows in very simple terms how to configure Kodi and what add ons will work and how to install them. I agree with Erol when he says.....I personally would not consider an android device running KODI to be a plug and play solution suitable for say my mother such that I could just set it up for her and that would be it. It would require ongoing attention from myself and involve too much frustration for my mother in terms of keeping track of what does currently work and what does not.
Kodi is fine when it works but for some they will just give up.

Aussiejock,.. not sure how you get permanent uninterrupted channels as they keep blocking them every few weeks ?
I found a good channel NJM Sports which shown all Premiership games and was very stable without issues however after 3 weeks the link has been taken down and can not now be accessed.
This happens all the time.
Which are the channels you get on a permanent basis ?

Re: Put KODI on your Computer or Laptop
Navek this should help the novice out there, thanks for the link, as I said I have no problems with kodi if you get buffering just pause it, go make a cup of tea and in 5 mins everything should work just fine, and has been pointed out to me by Keithcaley who messaged me it's ( Xmovies8.co and not Xmovie8.co ) you have to excuse my memory loss ) there are a hundreds of movie addons to chose from, and as for Multimax I found them to be a very good internet service provider, I had no trouble with them, very helpfull and found them to be very reliable, I think you are very lucky to have them, I have nothing to do with this Co but you may think that they are bad, well Australia must have the worst internet service providers in the world because they are just rubbish I pay 240 lira a month for Telstra I am lucky to get 12 mps and our Government wants to cap it to 20 mps because that what this Government thinks our NBN should be because we do not need anything over that and this from our Prime Minester, yet in America it's up to and over 300mps, we will be coming back over again in April/May for a year or two, don't give up on KODI as I said I have been using it since the old XBOX 360 and the jailbroken Apple TV 2,

Re: Put KODI on your Computer or Laptop
Turtle I have a few addons for the football in KODI and they are good, but I do not use them for the football I have a site I use through google http://www.vipbox.tv/ I can get any sport in the world just click on the football and go down to the match that you want to watch, click on the game and all the links will appear, now put your curser at the top of the page and with the curser left click hold down and drag the top of the page down half an inch, the reason is you get a few popups and you have the open space at the top of your Window to close them, just wait for 20 sec or so then close the last pop up and you can then go fullscreen, it's hard for a layman like myself to explain as I am not savvy enough, but you will love this site for the football, I watch all the premier games, but you also get all European games and most games around the world, again I do not have a lot of problems with vipbox, you just have to learn how to use it, you will get the hang of it after a while, I love the Premier league and can't get enough of it, and this site works all the time, again I have been using it for years,

Hi aussiejock,
That link I used 1st, checked that it worked, then posted the link.
I've been running the Icecube2, quad core, Android box via Wi-Fi for a while now, and I'm still learning, no instructions with it.
I was handed the box, mains cable & remote, by a friend who had just bought a MAG250 + NTV sub.
Then it was a case of searching on good old Google & You Tube.
The box was pre-loaded, I inadvertently lost all the addons, most were dodgy anyway.
Then it was a case of installing the latest Kodi 15.2, then finding & testing all the repo's, I'm trying new ones all the time.
Keeping the box up to updated, clearing cache, running scans etc helps to keep the system running fairly smoothly too.
Every week there's something new for the box, and something no longer working.
Have a look at the Android Showbox app, some good new movies on there http://showboxappdownload.com/
Also for Android.., Free Video Streams with MOBDRO, all Sky, BT, Setanta Sports BBC/ITV, Animal Planet etc https://www.mobdro.com/
After you install it, go to the 3 dots, top right hand side, left click on them, select your language & set alphabetically.
Gets rid of all other foreign streams.
Do I miss my UK Sky package?
Luckily I have a MAG254 with an NTV sub

3 addons for football on KODI
Football Today
Football Replays
The Beautiful game
they all work great for live games, full replays or highlights,
but as I said I have been using vipbox for such a long time I do not even go into KODI to watch football.

Hi turtle,
This might explain your promlems...
UPDATE Jan 7th
Updated to v2.0.2
The add-on is not currently auto-updating so if you are experiencing blank playlists in this add-on you probably haven't received the latest update (v2.0.2). If this happens just uninstall the old version (SYSTEM > Add-ons > My Add-ons > Video Add-ons > MoneySport > Uninstall) and then reinstall from the Legends repo which you will already have installed due to installing the add-on previously.

Thanks Navek but I don't think that's the problem...if there actually is a problem ?
Just watched my team ...the mighty OWLS whoop Leeds on Sportsdevil then livesportsstreams.co perfect all way through but I will have a guess that tomorrow the next match stream will be all over the place.....suppose it goes with the system and will have to play around with it.

I forgot to mention that while having probs with Kodi over Christmas it was recommended that I try SPMC another version and offshoot of Kodi (written by same people) and that so far is behaving itself fingers crossed.
Updates itself regular and seems a bit more stable.

Haven't been online for a little while so thought I would give you a good addon for watching UK live streams.
One of the best addons is Israeli.
with this addon you can watch all the UK programs live, this is a great addon:
