security problem on Kindle
I use Kindle a lot and message has come on this morning to say I have 22 viruses. Kindle came from Amazon UK ,registered in UK but it knows I operate outside of UK. Hence all prices are in dollars and most Ads are in Greek or Russian (I think) I clicked on to the Security icon that came with the Kindle but it says it does not operate "in your country" I.e it knows I'm not in UK. Any able to help out there?

Sadly that doesn't help me obliterated the viruses that I supposedly have on the system now.

I have a Kindle Fire...like you registered with Amazon in UK but used here. Mine came with it's own virus checker Webroot which is accessed via the Apps. Do you have any form of virus checker on yours?

Sophie, I am not a 'techie' but my Kindle Fire has McAfee mobile virus checker downloaded onto it. It checks mine daily. See if you can download it via the Apps option.

Thanks Tomsteel and carrierbag, will have a go but certainly I don't appear to have anything predownloaded.

Sophie. I checked on McAfee and it is available at no cost for Kindle. Use the Amazon Shop route. Good luck.

Make sure you really do have so many viruses. Often you get a message like this from companies trying to flog their own virus software and they hope to panic you by suggesting you have heaps of viruses. if you have a virus checker, run it before you take any other action.
Do your best to grow old disgracefully.
