Set it quite high, above 3 or it will go off all the time in this area!

Yes, you could be right!

Although, I think that they take an average reading from a few hundred 'phones in a given area, process the data, and then send out alerts if appropriate - otherwise, they'd get a lot of false alarms caused by the the heavy lorries trundling past my house, on the way to SIBA !
