Re: Part time English teacher wanted
On another thread I queried whether one must have a kimlik card and the answer was a 'yes'.
Such a shame because there are many good native English speakers, trained teachers, who cannot go for this job. So wish they would change a few of the rules here, but who am I to say.
So, Johnny, hope you are a citizen.

Good. And Lucky you. I have been waiting nearly 13 years but maybe before I die. The job sounds terrific.

She can't apply for the job, because she doesn't have a Kimlik (TRNC I.D. card / proof of citizenship), which is a requirement for the job see here.johnny1 wrote:marions why dont you reply for the job anyway?you have nothing to lose. im sure your charachter and personality could make them offer you it. go for it!
I seem to remember you saying that you live in the South, so when you say that you are a 'Citizen of Cyprus', do you mean North or South? - because, unless there is a settlement, you will actually need a Kimlik to work here. Sad but true

If you clicked on the link that I posted, you will see that the school have specified that any applicant must have a Kimlik (TRNC I.D. card / proof of TRNC citizenship).johnny1 wrote:keith i do live in the south ,you remember well.

There may well be many GC's working 'illegally' in the North (without a Kimlik or a Work Permit) but the school have made it clear that they will only accept applications from Kimlik holders!
If you don't want to listen to what I say, then fine!

Re: Part time English teacher wanted
Unfortunately rules is rules. Anyone form the south coming over and working illegally doe s not have too much of a problem is found breaking the law and then just returning to the south. Unfortunately the employer would be faced with a 10,000tl fine . It is true that many TC's work in the south and that is quite legal as most of them have identity cards for the south. So no probs. I have friends who worked there, and I could if I wanted as I am a European with a passport to prove it, so they could not sotp me from seeking work (doesn't mean I would get it0. However, as the North is not fully in the EU, my European passport is of no value when seeking work.
When I worked in the south it was pre EU and I needed a Work permit , and unfortunately the same applies here now. I have taught here, but that was before the law was tightened up.
It is flattering what you say Johnny, and I would like to think it true - my personality and experience would make me suitable for the job, but I don't think for a moment I am worth a 10,000tl fine.
Such a rule means that employers in the north are potentially missing out of many excellent candidate,s but , as I said, rules is rules.
Just wish they would change them, but they are not l,ikely to do that for me.
I really don't think you would stand a chance Johnny - unless they were to take you on and take a chance, and it would seem that this particular school also wishes to abide by the law.
Ho hum!!!!

Hi Wibow. Do try the e mail again. It worked for me, so maybe there was something wrong. Try again by clicking on the address given in the first posting, and then write again.
