Until this morning i have been receiving and sending emails on my Samsung Galaxy tablet but for some unknown reason it has stopped working. Does anyone know how I can find out how I can check the incoming server settings?

It would depend on what email app you are using. There is a gmail app (than now can support any pop/imap email account, not just gmail ones), there will be a generic Samsung email app and then there are any number of third party email apps that you could be using. If you can tell me which email app you are using then I can probably give you and idea how to see and check and change the server settings.

Hi Erol, I was hoping you might pick this one up! The email app I was using was Outlook but this stopped working. I deleted the account and added it again but I keep getting the message: Request timed out. Please check your settings (408). I also have the Email App but can't get that going either. I have tried my Gmail App and added my live.co.uk account but I have to remember to select the account i want to use each time I send an email. I dont want to use gmail as my main account. Many thanks for your help as always. Judy

I am sorry but I have never used the android outlook app so can not help much with that.

However if everything is working using the gmail app and your only problem is that it does not default to the email account you want to show as being the 'sent from' account when you create a new email, then this you can change.

To change it you need to do it from web based access to your gmail account (not on the android app).

Goto your gmail account on a laptop/web browser. Goto settings. Goto the section "Accounts and imports" then in the section 'send mail as' put in the email address you want to use when you send a mail and make sure it is 'default'. You can also choose from the options "Reply from the same address the message was sent to" or "Always reply from default address" as you prefer.

Once you have done this on the web based setting for you gmail account, it should mean when you create a new email via the gmail app on your phone it will use the default 'send from' email address as you defined above.

Hope that makes some kind of sense ?

Many thanks Erol. I tried changing the settings on my laptop but for some reason it rejected my password several times and I was forced to reset my Microsoft account and now my Outlock App seems to be working again without changing any of the server settings. I will continue using that App and hope it is all fixed now.
Thanks again. Judy
