The raptors that feed on the carcasses of poisoned animals are dropping like flies and soon will be wiped-out. The number of active eagle nests has plummeted by 50%.
One day a small village child will be killed by this habit of indiscriminate poisoning and then they'll be sorry and maybe someone will act... then will they say it's 'part of our culture'?

In Australia they use 10/20 and it kills everything and anything that come's into contact with the carcass, a deadly poison, we lost our dog when it wandered off into the bush we had to get the gun out because it was frothing at the mouth and in absolute pain and we were frightened it would attack one of our children, not a nice thing to witness

Thank you .....Aussiejock, Groucho, Archie, Deniz.
As you say Groucho, the knock on effect of poisoning is endless & so indiscriminate apart from barbaric, the list is endless.

Signed a few days ago. Groucho, I don't event think if a child is poisoned it will make any difference what so ever. The answer will still be "we can't do anything unless you actually see the person laying it. HOW in the middle of the night?
KAR have been petitioning for years to get the sale banned!!!!!

Of course I will sign, but this will be the 3rd or 4th petition and nothing, absolutely nothing comes of it. KAR had a major petition with thousands of signatures and they presented it to the Prime Minister. I suspect it went straight in the bin. Its like people being only being as deaf as they want to be. If they feel ex-pats and the like are interfering with their way of life, they will ignore it. I know its dispiriting but after all these years of trying its how you get!

I understand completely Sophie but the lady in question behind this petition feels so strongly about the poisonings she feels she has to do something.
There have peen people signing all around the world & Marilyn is so heartened by this, 1400 now. Maybe one day the authorities will take notice & maybe it will be this one, in the meantime as I am sure you will understand she can't sit back & do nothing.......

Without being too much of a wet blanket on this...................... sophie is correct that KAR handed in a petition at the same time as the people of Malatya, where a three quarters of a mile stretch of road had poisoned meat put down. Several animals and birds lost their lives. Nothing much happened, except that laws were tightened up on the sale of poisons - which is a very valid step. However, such poisons can be obtained from Turkey.
However, if any petition is to have any value you need thousands upon thousands of citizens to sign to show the government that it matters to them. Then maybe.........but as has been said, the police and the government is willing to prosecute but there HAS to be evidence. Whether it happens in the middle of the night or wheneve,r unless there is a witnes,s or a photograph or some forensic evidence, all the petitions in the world won't make any difference whatsoever.
Also should the government receive thousands and thousands of names, just what is anyone expecting them to do?
Oops, I am a wet blanket, and I care as much as many many others, including the lady who suggested this particular petition. What is effective is education, and thankfully that has been started - in the schools.
