Gall bladder operation.

Has anyone had this operation recently, either keyhole or open? Which hospital did you use and which Doctor/Surgeon?

I had my gall bladder removed last year, by keyhole surgery at Kamiloglu hopital in Girne.
All went well, and no complications.

I had my gall bladder removed in January this year by key hole surgery at Near East. Superb treatment from start to finish! Would definitely recommend!

Be a little cautious if a hospital here tells you that you need a gall bladder removal if you have had no symptoms. I know of two people who, whilst having an unrelated problem investigated, were told that they had gall stones and needed to have their gall bladder removed. Both checked this out with the NHS, to find that they recommend removal only if the patient has problems, otherwise it is best to let well alone.

Could it be that this is a "bread and butter" procedure for doctors here, which is not really necessary but for which they could not be criticised for performing?

I'm always amazed at the variety of 'bits and pieces' that can be removed from the human body with 'few or no' side effects.

Perhaps they were put there so that surgeons would evolve by natural selection, and be able to make their living by removing them!

I totally agree I was told I needed gall bladder removed only to find out that there was nothing wrong with my gall bladder and the symptom's I had was unrelated this I found out after weeks of treatment and getting worse, I finally went to the Near East was diagnosed correctly in days and had successful treatment.
