Acer notebook and windows 10 problem - help
I have a 3 month old Acer notebook/laptop and something has gone wrong (operator error i think !!!). It runs Windows 10 and today i was typing and all of a sudden it wouldn't type any letters. The only way i can get it to type is if i hold the "shift" key down ...but then it is in capitals. I restarted the Acer but now because of this "shift" problem i cannot log in as my password is not supposed to be in capitals !!!!
Help anyone ????

Hi ifonly,
Try removing the battery before you restart it.
If that fails, warranty should cover the fault.

In the control panel you will see an option for a touch screen keyboard that might have been activated it called tablet mode its in action center
Try plunging in another usb keyboard see if you can get it to work that way
Good luck

Hi ifonly, I have not used this guy so am basing this on other forum users recommendations. Try samboy on 0533 848 5019. I think he is Lapta-based. He certainly buys all manner of IT and, apparently, repairs and advises. Good luck. If it is any comfort to you, my Acer is being repaired via its 5th chip in just over 2 years @ 250 YTL per visit!

Re: Acer notebook and windows 10 problem - help
If it is an "Acer problem", I wonder whether it is just new ones - we have three laptops in our house ranging from five years to only fifteen months old - excellent performance and no problems on any - one started off as Win XP (now Win 7), one as Vista and one as Win 8 (both now Win 10).

Thanks for the replies. The latest is;
I managed to log in using the "Ease of access - on display keyboard" but this is mouse operated and is so slow. Anyway the shift key is no longer stuck on - i have tried the Fn & F7 buttons (which disable the keyboard) in the hope that they would enable it but no joy. I cannot find anything on control panel that helps - everything else seems to work just fine it is just that i cannot type anything from the touchpad/keyboard ----- it's a mystery. I do think it may be some combination of keys being pressed that started the problem but how to fix ??????? Maybe off the the pc shop i think.
