Good news. Hopefully if this trend keeps up we will see some prices coming down.

Prices coming down: dream on buddy. Merchants and governments alike will make as much as they can from the 'pond-life'.

In previous years here prices have fluctuated both up and down with currency movements.

Prices coming down-dream on.
The only prices that come down are fruit and veg depending on the season and over supply and anything related to the exchange rate lira v dollar.

Fuel costs will increase soon, albeit the cost did not decrease by the same margin as the world cost recently experienced. Then it will be the price of mains supplied H2O via Turkey as the various levels of bureaucracy have to be fed and (excuse the pun) watered and then it will be the cost of electricity supplied via Turkey as even more bureaucrats put their noses in the trough. Hey ho, it is all good fun.

Better news for all them that whacked their life savings into TL at 2.6 to the pound but not for them who change their pensions weekly or monthly into TL. But then again you knew that anyway!!!!

+'ve thinking has to be based on previous experience, likely outcome and trust. You have any of those factors in any TRNC Government thus far and likely to follow?

Like I said I have seen the prices change for the better before with Currency fluctuations. So yes I think positive. Of course people changing Stg. get more lira but it does not buy them much more than it did previously due to the inflation of I believe of around 80 % in 7 years. Of course i agree about governments taking us for as much as they can .

A bit like the 6d they shoved on a gallon during the Suez crisis that never came back off .

Johnny Lee, sadly I think there are very few positive thinking Brits over here from reading this forum. They moan if the exchange rates go up, cos if they put their sterling into Lira and then for some strange reason, even though they don't need to, worry because they have 'lost' on paper....completely overlooking the fact that they are benefitting from very good rates of interest, which they would never get from any sterling investment. And now, well, its like, lets have a moan cos the exchange rate is coming down....it is all swings and roundabouts.......in my very humble opinion of course.
