Hi. We have just found a tortoise in our garden. Has anyone lost one or know of anyone that has. We are on the beach side of Karsiyaka. Please ring 0533 844 8146

Thanks to all that posted. Bertie has now found a good home in Ozankoy. A neighbour thought he was one of a number around here set loose!

I will post this on Hope 4 Pets facebook page for you. Can you be a little more specific on location?

If the owner is not found, we can look after it in Taskent Nature Park.

Currently looking after approx 100 tortoises, and a little bit of genetic diversity is always welcome.

Taskent Nature Park is being built next to the flag on the mountain.

We are planning to open for public in the beginning of 2018.

Hmm, its definitely not ours.

Cannot imagine how she has found her way to bahceli.

Give us more information or help us capture it before she falls victim to something brutal?

I will ask my friend - I've not seen it but she does and took these photos... people have been reporting sightings and some even mistook it for a Mouflon (which it's not!)

It's been around a while so not in imminent danger it would seem.

Can I suggest that you remove the location of this deer from your posts please! It is a bit like saying "Has anyone else seen that pot of old Gold coins"! It is information that could put this animal in danger. Just a thought.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

It's been around for a long time (more than two years) and it's an open secret in the area - and it is a very big 'location'.

Knowing she has been feral for about 2 years compels to just leave her be. You are correct that spreading specifics about the animal may put her under more risk, but that doesnt mean that she is currently safe. However proper assessment needs to be made whether she is really safe or it is pure luck that has gotten her this far.

I always have thought we needed a wildlife sanctuary in Cyprus exactly for these cases, and finally decided to build one

Excellent news about the wildlife sanctuary. Wish I lived nearer and could offer to help. Please keep us all informed!

I had always understood that tortoises were indigenous to Cyprus.

The mystery of their ( there are two of them) emergence has been solved - they are both escapees from a herd of eight kept at the menagerie located on the coast road near Alagadi....

If they were a breeding pair then this could be problematic going forward... But I think they are two females.
