This thread had gone off topic and turned into a slanging match. I have removed it from the forum. Please stick to the rules.

Soner, sensible move - but some great banter now lost. Having served the Crown for a total of 45 years I was enjoying the to and fro, albeit I never served in anything 'special', not even a chef! How's the special section concept going? Tom.

I haver to admit I hadn't realised it was becoming a slanging match and loved the banter between the ex military personnel. Perhaps you had to have been one of them to appreciate it. (not having been one myself I hasten to add - never went higher than a Girl Guide)

turtle, I think Soner was of the opinion that two posters with opposing views were taking the original post too personally. Perhaps a deletion of their posts and continuance would have been less stern, but, as it is his forum, he gets the choice. You could, of course, start another thread on 'walts' and their claims of daring do. Being a mere REMF, I have no tales of hurricane lamp swinging to relate around the Jerry can desert fire swigging cold Tenants lager.

Good evening all
First of all I apologise for taking the original post slightly off topic. I don't know if anybody did complain and if they did find it offensive I again apologise. It was not my aim to upset anybody I just felt I had to point out that what some people claim to be they are so obviously not!
Let's keep things light hearted and remember everyone is entitled to an opinion, which I will also remember.

There have been times on this forum when people have had a permenant ban for holding an opposing opinion to certain mods.

And rightly so too. Who pays the piper, picks the tune. I would not be a Mod for all the Efes in Turkey. However, if the ball is mine, I can select who I play with.

A different situation altogether, as I remember it (of course, we may all have different memories )

My impression was that Soner was concerned that the method of exporting the two animals might possibly be in contravention of TRNC law, and until he had ascertained the legality of the situation, he did not want to risk the possibility of the forum being dragged into legal proceedings. Unfortunately he was very busy at that time, and was unable to give the subject any priority, so thought it safer to stop the discussion.

As I recollect, some people just didn't accept that it was 'his ball'...

I'm sure that someone will put me right if I'm wrong!
