What a mess advertising boards

Travelling to and from Lefkosa to Girne in the Girnelye area, the advertising boards have been covered up or stripped. What a total mess, just imagine what it will look like as they rot and deteriorate over the years. I know people have complained about them all but now they are more than an eyesore, they are a disgrace and are worse than ever.

A half finished job as usual! I believe tourists are given rose tinted sunglasses when they arrive at Ercan!

I read recently that Gonyeli Bele, have taken the advertisements down, because they were illegally erected without permission and also no payment made to the Bele.

They are in the process of taking them down so far this week at least 4-5 have been removed, its not that easy a job as these are big frames also set in Concrete. They were striped last Sunday and all the plastic removed the next Day.

If the Beli calls one of the local metal scrap collectors and gives permission to remove they will be gone by next day.
The wife keeps complaining I never listen to a word she says ............. or something like that.

I think that the problem there would be that although the signs may not be situated legally, they are still the property of someone else. Removal by a scrap merchant without the express permision of the legal owner would be theft...

Maybe the properties built by builders on illegal situations, but owned legally, should not have been bulldozed - if there is any concern as to the legality of removing the metal signs. Does not depriving the rightful owners of their properties, without their permission, the use of them constitute a form of theft?
