Marmite Lovers??? - Closed Thread!

Post by waddo »

I have three jars of Marmite. All jars are unopened with the paper seals intact. All jars are 500gms. The "Best before end dates" (if there is such a thing for yeast extract) are: July 2016, November 2016 and December 2016.

These jars are available to anyone wishing to make a donation to Kibkom forum! The amount of donation is up to you and there is no other charge. One jar per customer as its only fair!!!

I am based Catalkoy and happy to deliver to the car park outside Supreme Supermarket - just let me know via the forum page please, then everyone will know when they have gone. No PM's or emails please!

First three requests win - all others I am sorry I don't have anymore, these are surplus to requirements. I will check every hour till they are gone and reply to each. Thanks.

Happy spreading.

November jar now belongs to Silverfox1. Two jars left! Think of all the mossy bites you won't get and the marmite you can enjoy - lol.

Silverfox1, Can't make it today as am busy breaking things in the garden and can not stop - anytime tomorrow apart from between 15:00 and 16:00 (that is when the F1 qualifiers are on) is fine with me.

Surprised me as well sophie, guess the price was too high - lol. Still have two jars left and if it is the same in the morning then it looks like silverfox1 will get a "bogof"!!! We are still eating the marmite that has a best before of Nov last year, still tastes the same but maybe because we keep it in the fridge?

There is a big difference between a 'Best Before date' and a 'Consume by' date, and there was a big debate recently about the amount of food that is wasted unnecessarily...

I suspect that a lot of these dates are pretty arbitrary, and are there simply to help stock control or to make people buy some more

You are not wrong Keith, if we had only bought stuff with a "Usable" best before date when we first came here we would have starved!!! Fortunately we are both ex military and became quite used to eating "compo" rations that were well beyond their best before date so we tend to just ignore it now. Eggs are a different matter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
