Lack of mains water in Karsiyaka
We live on the Karsiyaka/Lapta border (mountainside) and it appears that we have had no mains water for upto 4 days. My immediate neighbour is in the same position.
We both have plenty of credit on the meter.
Is anyone else in the area having the same experience. I know that often the water is only switched on at night but that would mean our tanks would be topped up which of course they are not.
Would appreciate any comments.

Re: Lack of mains water in Karsiyaka
I have found where water is not used I have had to place the card into the meter to open it but on one house it did not work. After a visit to the water department (several times) it was eventually opened as the tap in the road had been turned off.
therefore now
I do card
then visit

We live on the other side of Karsiyaka and haven't had water either. I just put it down to the time of year. Hopefully not too long before it gets switched on again.

Hi, we live close to Tolgas/Jessics and have no problem with water, coming in as I speak.

Close to Club Simena, water has been turned off or low pressure (for a few hours only) several times over the past couple of weeks - we notice this quickly because our cold taps/toilet cistern are now connected directly to the mains, while our storage tank supplies only the 'hot' circuit.

Re: Lack of mains water in Karsiyaka
The delivery system for Karsiyaka water explains what is happening.
The water is pumped from the well into tanks on the mountainside and when it is your turn for water the tank is emptied into your section of the system. Gravity ensures that those at the bottom get the water first and only when they have filled their tanks, washed their cars, watered their gardens, filled their pools etc. does the water 'back-up' and provide some pressure higher up. Those at the top get the least water and as the summer arrives, and more and more properties are occupied, they get nothing.
If you complain to the belediye they will sometimes send you a free tanker and sometimes they will release a second load into your section of the system as soon as the mountainside tanks are full again. As the lower properties have full tanks then you should get some.
Personally I gave up years ago after being billed for just 9 tons between May and October - I now have a well and my meter is turned off.

Re: Lack of mains water in Karsiyaka
We know how it is supposed to work, but recently it is not working. For last couple of years it has worked quite smoothly, in a Cypriot sort of way, it seems to have reverted to type.
One thing is certain, this summer will not be a good one as the local resources are very depleted after a poor winter of rain. Some people assume that the new pipeline is the panacea to the Cyprus water problems....wrong!!!!! It may help but with the type of management we all know come August I am certain there will be problems for domestic users.
