Hello,
I want to bring an unusual shaped package back to TRNC with me. I am flying back with Turkish airlines. My suitcase may also be overweight.
Is there anyone that is familiar with Turkish Airlines Baggage Policy. I am struggling to find the information I need. I have emailed Turkish Airlines customer service a couple of days ago but as yet no response. An acknowledgement email only saying they can take up to 7 days to reply!
Thanks in advance to any responses to my request

I e-mailed Manchester office and got a reply same day. I brought 8 kilo wooded garden feature from Ercan to Manchester cost £48 wrapped up in bubble wrap and black bin bag no problem.

Thanks Woodspeckie
It is the Manchester office that I contacted also. Not as lucky as you. Still waiting for a response to my enquiry.
May I ask if you -pre booked your package when you booked your flight or did you sort it out at check in on the day?

Re: Turkish Airlines Excess & unusual bags in hold
I have travelled to NC via Istanbul many times and have been overweight (baggage that is ) many time and they said nothing every time.
I have also taken some very unusual things with me also and not a word just put it down the "unusual chute" and pick it up at Ercan on arrival,.. however the customs officers are getting keener at Ercan as they seem to be checking these packages more on arrival,... funny thing is I only get stopped by female offices never the men wonder why ?

I sorted it out at check in, after checking in the luggage I had to go to another desk to say what was in the package they weighed it and gave me the price, paid for it they stuck a label on it then I had to go back to check in.

TA office in Nicosia told us this week. Various Lira charges per Kilo for internal flights and Euro per kilo charges for overweight baggage or extra cases. One 20 kilo case from Ercan to Edinburgh would be 200 Euros! [20x10Euros] We had problems contacting them on line.
