Driving Directions
Has anyone ever driven from Protaris to Famagusta? Any help with crossings/car insurance welcomed.

Re: Driving Directions
I think I went from Protaras via Paralimni and emerged on the Famagusta road near Ayios Nikolaos.
When I was stationed there (a long time ago!) Ay Nik was known as "Four mile point". The crossing point is between there and Famagusta, and as a local told me, it is now "Two and a half mile point"

Re: Driving Directions
Protaras is a long stringy town with little centres dotted along its length. From the resort areas come back from the coast and onto the main road, turn RIGHT. Carry on to a large traffic Island and turn LEFT.
Up the Hill and you will see a Metro supermarket followed by a large church on your left, take the next RIGHT after that.
Keep going .....around a bad bend to the left and to traffic lights near the Poilice Station, straight over.
You will come to a very large traffic Island, turn RIGHT (Second exit) and then drive through Dherynia and into Frenaros.
In Frenaros watch for a turn to the right signed Vrysoulles, there is a cafe on the corner but it can be difficult to spot. Turn RIGHT.
Carry on down this road past the smelly tip to the next T junction, turn RIGHT.
Follow the road to and through the British base at Ayios Nikolaos. This will bring you to the crossing.
You can buy insurance at the crossing.

Rigsby
You are correct in the name Black Knight. I was stationed at Ay Nik in the 80s and 90s and the crossing was called Black Knight but in the day also known as 4 mile point. Directions given by a previous poster to Vrysoulles and onto the border are spot on.

Re: Driving Directions
Thank you once again, did the journey on Monday.Visited old neighbours and the Kar shop so the wife saw some of her old workmates. I Chose to go back through Metahan as those varying speed limits to Nicosia became a little boring.
