Prescription Sun Glasses
Hi all, I need to replace my prescription sunglasses, have had my eyes retested in the UK, and have the prescription Question is it cheaper to buy them in the south or are they around the same price here? and any recommendations as to where to go would be appreciated.

Try AKAY OPTIC in Girne, my wife has buys her prescription sunglasses from there. Great selection and good prices. On main road through Girne not far from Mr Pound. If you are a member of BRS you get a discount off the frame.

I am also very happy with my sunglasses from Akay which were purchased last October.
For the sunglasses they re-used my current frames - a considerable saving and they were happy to oblige. I had:-
extra-thin lens
Polaroid
extra-hard coating
anti-glare coating.
Without the Polaroid they would have been ready the same day, with Polaroid took 3 days. The cost was 510tl.
I also ordered another pair (reading), again re-using my current frames and with extra hard coating - they cost 150tl.
I have no idea now this compares to the South but I hope it helps.

Agree, Akay optic for me. Had my prescription sunglasses from there, very pleased with them, just ordered yet another pair of varifocals......I like a change....lol. They are very good and have a great range of frames. I find them to be very reasonable, but have not compared with the South, don't forget if you go there, you should add in the cost of insurance at the border and the cost of petrol......

This is my original post at the time and when I had the invoice in front of me. I got the prices right but I got the delay wrong - although I said a 3 day wait in this thread, I see now it was 1 week and it was for the extra hard coating not the Polarisation.
