Cat trap.
Is there such a thing? We are being visited by a stray cat who comes through any open window/door and hides in the house until we all go to bed. He then walks all over the kitchen work-top looking for food when we are asleep.
If I can't trap and release him somewhere he may have a nasty "accident". Anti-freeze comes to mind.
Any other ideas?

Anti freeze! You must be joking surely??? But not much of a joke to have such a cruel thought. Why not just scare the wits out of it by sneaking down and banging something loudly - since you know its there, you should be able to do that.

Re: Cat trap.
We had a stray cat turn up that started to terrorise one of the local female ferals, must point out that both were neutered. We decided we had no choice but to relocate him, 2 days later I opened the front door to find him sitting there. I am pleased to say that some time after he found a lovely home and we never saw him again!

You could try Fly Screens ?? Or let him wander around great for spiders and snakes. Make it welcome Actually try a little a bit of pepper where it enters or cat repellent.

I believe you can hire a trap from KAR, usually used to trap strays to get them to the vet.

KAR will not let you hire the trap to catch an "unwanted guest" they will if you have an "injured" cat to catch.

Re: Cat trap.
Not easy to trap a feral cat. We've been feeding a feral cat 3 or 4 times a day for several months. When she first arrived she was very pregnant. One morning when she arrived she was no longer pregnant, I tried to watch where she went assuming she would return to her babies but she appeared to be in no hurry just lay in the sun after having eaten her fill. I came to the conclusion that she must have lost her babies as we twice witnessed her falling from a second floor windowsill. & whilst pregnant was constantly being raped by male cats. When I take her food & drink out she runs away & returns to eat only when I go back inside. I talk to her through the fly screen to try to gain her trust. A few days ago I managed to entice her inside but the moment I closed the fly screen she went berserk, ran all round the apartment in a panic climbing the fly screens, it was pitiful so I had to let her go out again. If I could catch her I would take her to the vet get her neutered so that at least she wouldn't have to go through another pregnancy. Meantime I just continue to supply her meals on demand.

Fly screens may not work as clever cats can open them. You could get some mesh and wedge it in your windows so that it can't be moved by the cat. A cheaper alternative to fly screens though it won't keep the flies out.

I hope you are not serious about the anti freeze. It's a horrible and drawn out death for the cat, or any animal.
We know chicken laced with this was put down by an ex neighbour and two of another neighbour's cats suffered horribly before dying after eating the chicken.

you can hire a trap from KAR for neutering purposes. The worse thing you can do is to trap one in your house, they will wreck the place. However KAR will not agree to removing the cat to some other place, nor with antifreeze, I just hope that bit of the original message was supposed to be a sick joke.
