I think that reporting the email to Mine Konat would be a good idea, so that she is aware of possible scams using her name & contact details - also checking that it is actually her email address that is on this suspect email...

Thank you for bringing it to attention, in any event.

I can understand her being hacked with a "yahoo" account but how my details showed up I am lost.

I am so very very sorry for your loss though, it is just unbelievable

Hi, if you don't mind me asking, what was the actual email address on the email that you received that pretended to come from her?

Same as I informed them (Mine Konat) of what happened to me, I am not IT clever but do not consider "yahoo" emails as very safe

Thank you for that, both of you.

I did wonder whether they perpetrators had actually got into her account, or had used a 'spoofed' address to make it look - superficially - as though it was from her account.

I had discussed this with some tech-savvy friends, and they thought that it was probably the former (as you have shown) because otherwise the perps would not have known that a payment was due...

Unfortunately, no email system is 100% safe & secure, - virtually any email account can be hacked, and any communication sent over the internet can be intercepted, redirected, modified or copied if the hackers have a mind to, and the time and resources of course.

I don't know how businesses here get away without being insured against such occurrences, because if they choose to conduct business via the internet, they should realise the risks, and accept the responsibility.

Have you considered suing her for your loss? - Presumably her Professional Indemnity Insurance would cover her in that event...

I received the same scam email, which I promptly reported as a phishing scam and deleted. I have never had any dealings with the advocate mentioned above so don't know how I ended up with this scam email. Email was from Polly Nickless and subject heading was Contract/Title Deed

She isn't alone. My advocate was very easily hacked.

I found a lack of security-mindedness there.

Hopefully its the British police that are investigating , in partnership with the TRNC investigators, Michelle?
I wouldn't have much hope if it was solely a TRNC investigation.

It may not be related but there is another scam email doing the rounds. If you receive an email (probably from someone you may know) giving a link to log onto 'Dropbox' - do not open your dropbox account. The link is from someone who has hacked an account of a friend, or someone on your email list.
Delete the suspect email.

Contacting the person (who is shown as the sender) via email is also not advised (try another method) to let them know about a potential problem.

Had lots of these scam email allegedly contracts and one this morning from" Richard "

What professional body would address an email of importance with "hi" then proceed to say "your contract is ready"
These people are using various names, anything with " contract" goes straight in spam, you have to be so careful, from the papers it seems accounts have been backed and fast payment details changed.
If you know you haven't a sale going through DON'T open email, if you have phone your solicitor and confirm the email you have is from them and confirm bank details.
I hope the people involved in this scam get some help from their bank and get their money reimbursed.
Just be aware
