Re: Independence day 24 June 2016
I remember the vote to leave in the 70s. I was working with my dad in his Music store in Dudley. It was a very busy shop, I remember the discussions with numerous customers I don't think I heard a single person who wanted to stay in the Common Market as it was referred to on those days. Yet we did. Many people at the time said it was corrupted. As I beleive this one will be.
Anything at all that involves big money is fixable. This assumption is based on the real world. (not computer stats.) Governments, Councils and similar organisations are the most corrupt people in the world. The EU. is providing certain people with vast incomes at our expense.
Erol you have still not answered my very simple questions, in normal down to earth manner that people can relate to.

Which is exactly my point. You simply believe what ever you want to believe to suit your opinions. You are entirely entitled to do so but if you then come into public spaces and declare that what you choose to believe is 'fact' then you should expect to be challenged on such assertions. Reality could have been that there was mass corrupt subversion of the 1975 referendum or it could have been that your subjective impression of how the entire UK must have actually voted based on the tiny sample of customers that passed through your fathers shop, who may well have just been saying what they knew was wanted, was just plain wrong. You can not be wrong, therefore the vote must have been corrupt, this is how your mind works.Johnny Lee wrote:I remember the vote to leave in the 70s. I may not have answered your questions in a manner you can relate too (meaning I have not given the answers your loaded questions were designed to try and elicit and that you wanted) but you do not, whatever you may think, have a right to speak on behalf of 'people'. This 'technique' of representing ones own views as being those of everyone or the majority is as tiresome as it is common from some posters.Johnny Lee wrote:Erol you have still not answered my very simple questions, in normal down to earth manner that people can relate to.

I just can't see there being an Independence Day.
The financial markets are backing a remain and so are the bookies.
Sorry to say "Mr Cameron and his spin doctors got there strategy spot on -The Economy being the main driver and Mr Gove for the out campaign was never the right man to lead such a serious historical event
I forecast a clear majority of around 5-7% in favour of remain and life will carry on as normal.
Hope I'm wrong though!

I don't think realistically we stand a chance of coming out. But like virtually everyone I have spoken to I hope I am wrong.

How come it is "Ex-pats whether they be in Cyprus or elsewhere...." but "immigrants who flock to England"
You also said "expats.... integrate seamlessly by learning the language and do all they can to rub along with their chosen countrymen/women never criticizing how the place is run, the standard of driving....."
Well thousands of Brits in North Cyprus have never made any attempt to learn Turkish, and Cyprus Today is full of right wing columnists and letter writers whingeing every week........Well go back to rain sodden cold narrow minded Britain of you really hate it here so much!

My big worry is about the demonstrations, civil unrest, vandalism, sabotage and bloody revolution that will occur once the referendum results are announced, and it is found that the unbalanced fanatics have won, despite all the efforts of the sensible, reasonable, and totally responsible people....
...After all, we can't let the lunatics run the asylum, can we.......?
And remember, we've got to save them from theirselves.......

Yes the unbalanced fanatics have won. They failed to listen to reason and expert advice.jofra wrote:My big worry is about the demonstrations, civil unrest, vandalism, sabotage and bloody revolution that will occur once the referendum results are announced, and it is found that the unbalanced fanatics have won, despite all the efforts of the sensible, reasonable, and totally responsible people....

And now we are ALL paying the price just as the experts said.
I am afraid the lunatics have also left the asylum and the whole damn place is empty and without a leader.

Brexit: Facts Not Fear - a short film by Toby Young.
If anyone has 10 minutes to spare just google the above or search on facebook for this short video.
It was made before the vote took place and is one of the very few pieces that actually gave "facts" rather than fear.

Ah, but when I wrote this, it was still polling day, and no results were available.....
...so who knows just which faction I was classing as the "unbalanced fanatics"...?
Written purely as irony, now given some of the comments/claims/statements from both sides (not just on here!) in the run-up, I suspect both factions could have some of their own "unbalanced fanatics"...
I'm just surprised no-one replied before......
