A man by the name of Osman Büyükdoğan was arrested for breaking into the hotel room of an Italian couple and robbing them of 750 euros, 280 TL ve 200 dollars - one has to wonder though why they would leave so much cash in their hotel room ?!

In any case, according to this Kıbrıs report, the robbery occurred at the Arch House (Hotel) in Dipkarpaz at around 9.30 am on Saturday morning. Büyükdoğan has been remanded in custody awaiting trial. The police are also looking into other crimes committed in the area that may have involved Büyükdoğan.

You need a native speaker (of Turkish) Anna ... and if you listen to me for too long, then you'll end up speaking Turkish with a Bristolian accent
There's plenty of good teachers around - Meral, Ilnur and Big Oz to name but a few ... and they charge very reasonable rates.

"Falcon" according to my diktinery! I knew someone whose first name was "Doğan" and he reckoned it meant any large bird of prey.

It only sprang to mind when I read the op because of Doğanköy, and my mind was running on village names.

I knew "doğan" was one of the birds of prey, but wasn't certain which and didn't check the dictionary. To be honest that was main reason why I wrote "break the suspect's surname up into two words and then get your dictionary out."

Back in the early 90s every car on the road (besides a handful of Renaults) was made by the Turkey's "Tofaş". And the cars' names were:

Kartal (a station wagon/estate car)
Doğan (large family saloon car)
Şahin (medium-sized saloon car, driven by 90% of taxi drivers at that time)
Serçe (very small saloon car)

"Kartal" is "eagle" in English and "serçe" is "sparrow" ... but I could never remember which birds "doğan" and "şahin" were ... and clearly I still don't know
