End of the Adventure
Today landed back in England, leaving TRNC for the final time.
Had ten and half years, some good, some total crap because of builder problems.
Good luck to all those still in the deep brown stuff of the corrupt heart of the country. Until a third party takes charge of the country nothing in the property sector will be resolved. For us that is over and will never return.

Agree with you Deniz1, we're 12 years into our adventure and still happily making discoveries. I admit we have been fortunate in some ways, and we do feel sorry when it hasn't worked out for others.

Five years here, still loving it,full deeds & only 1 regret by putting too much savings into Turkish Lira. Could soon change though after last couple days.

ardstrawray - not going into detail but if you knew me like kaiserphil, carboot and many others on this forum and outside you would understand why we have given up. Not whinging as you imply just fed up having lost an awful lot of money and tired of fighting a battle we could never win. Others such as frontalman, who I do know, have been able to achieve what we would never be able to do and I am extremely pleased for them and wish them a happy future in TRNC.

Re: End of the Adventure
We're not whinging either. We've had to make a living here which is not easy; employers don't want to pay more than the minimum wage (currently 450TL for a 6 day week which for some would just be the weekly drinks bill), and many expats want English workmanship at Turkish prices. We've survived, but feel that we've got as far as we can. We have had a good five years, and we will miss all the friends we've made.
We can't bear to see what is being done to this side of the island (supposedly in the name of progress). The mountains are being decimated to support a mass of ugly concrete blocks which are a blot on the landscape. The beaches are being taken over by huge hotels built with laundered money. The light pollution is increasing by the day, and the roads cannot support the amount of cars in daily use. This is no longer the north Cyprus that we loved 5 years ago. We want to leave the island before we grow to resent it.
I've always told people who weren't happy here that there's a perfectly good airport at Ercan and to feel free to use it. I do as I say.

Re: End of the Adventure
We relocated back to the UK after nearly 8yrs there, and we loved our time there but we had to return to the UK, and we have no regrets other than missing some wonderful friends.
