Hi All

Are there any good English speaking driving instructors out there? My wife has received a full TRNC driving license, that was the easy bit, now she just needs to learn how to drive, we live in the Bellapais area and she has her own car, slightly scratch, she has had around 20 lessons at one of the driving schools close to the Police station.
Any takers?
Dave

Dave, please excuse me for appearing to be slow (its my age), but how did your wife get a TRNC Driving Licence before learning to drive - is there no Driving Test involved?

Hi PapaBrave
Yes, a 5 min drive around the block, no reversing, no three point terns (never taught), not my experience of a test.

I'm sure this only reinforces what most foreigners here already thought.
It is clear from the deplorable standard of the locals driving that no real test of driving skills is involved.

I seem to remember that some dodgy British rally driver/asst driver did a piece in CT about the local test.
He said he took the test and found it very difficult. One can only think he lacks the dexterity of the locals in being
able to point and steer the vehicle while at the same time chat to mum on his mobile, tune in the car radio and
use the rear view mirror to check his hair/makeup. Those arre the skills that the locals possess - driving safely
and sensibly is not even considered necessary, after all if an accident occurs then it is all down to Allah not the individual's
driving.
