Is it Pt Pike come back to haunt us ? This guy is almost as bonkers as he was.
Incidentally Facebook and the like is not real life and if young people are stupid enough to take that ""alleged" view then they aren't intelligent enough to be given the vote anyway. Come on now Waz, how low are you prepared to sink.

I believe you are one of the "for my children's and grandchildren's" sake. Consultation may have paid dividends.
Young people may be stupid at times . Were you not on occasions?
These same young people are the future. Our soldiers, leaders entrepreneurs , politicians etc. Long after you have departed the mortal coil.
I sense they are by enlarge not at all thankful for your legacy.
You clearly failed to follow or listen to experts. "Our young generation are stupid and aren't intelligent enough."
I think the later may well apply to your good self given the unwinding mess that you are in part responsible for.
It would appear you are willing to sink very low indeed to inflict harm ( financial loss) and insult on young and old alike.

Re: Petition for a second Referendum
The UK do not have to apologise for anything, due to the massive sacrifice of many thousands of young men and women Europe was freed from persecution and oppression.
I wonder how brave the young of today would be if they were called on to do their duty for their country as they did .
As to the comments, and insults, from Waz in his last ranting, I won't even dignify them with an answer.

History will never be forgotten and our heroes likewise.
The young of today also want to be heroes in the modern era. Tolerance and integration is the term banded on the media.
The young want to go out into the free world and be heroes for themselves. Not in wars but in the world society
Why O why should you deny this aspiration based on historical . and "You owe me" mentality.
Sir, you are so wrong and the youngsters are cross about it.

A rather disturbing comment is banding about.
and I quote ONLY
" If you are old and white....Please die"
What does that say about the voters who acted for their children and grandchildren. Misguided, misinformed, or plain out of touch.
Quite a legacy backfire possibly?
It could just be the young that often know little of the financial realities of life who are out of touch - being older than them does not mean you are ready for the scrap heap....
Waz, your narrative is getting more and more bizarre - next it will be 'eat the rich'.
BTW you mean bandying not banding....

Re: Petition for a second Referendum
Give our 16-18year old a vote in the referendum you are joking, most of that age group spend 30mins on the toilet wondering which hand to use to wipe their backsides. The youth of today......90 % of these go to university to get nonsense and worthless degrees that will not help them in a working environment, they do this so they can maintain their lifestyle of late night parties with drink and drugs. When I was a youth to get into university was way beyond most kids because of the entrance exams. Today if you can tell the difference algebra and your ten times table you can come out with a mathematics degree. Yes it probably was the elderly generation that won the vote for leaving the EU but how many pensioners have drug abuse problems how many did you see buying legal highs. Let them vote.......... please tell me you were winding people up.waz-24-7 wrote:Very interesting development?
I will not hold by breath.
If the 16-18 yr olds are allowed, as I feel they should, have a voice then absolutely I will give odds on for a REMAIN

As it was a secret ballot I wonder how they know the age group breakdown.... or was that too done by the pollsters who forecast a remain vote?

Good question there, Waz may have the answer. Cameron said this afternoon in Westminster there will not be a second referendum.

Whatever your views on youth. These young people are the future of the UK. Leaders , soldiers, politicians , entrepreneurs, scientists and world leaders.
There is real talent in our youngsters and you are totally wrong to dismiss them as you may have also dismissed the EU.
I fully support our youngsters in their aspiration for education, prosperity success and I understand their wish to integrate with Europe and tolerate.
I must ask you what level of support and or advice would you offer to the younger generation, if any at all. Certainly the weeks chaos that we are left with now combined with what appears as a clear dysfunctional youth leaves us with total and absolute disaster.
Any wonder that social media has said. I quote ONLY
" If you are old and white...please die"
There is clear division in our ranks. The Old have voted. The young, in part, have been excluded and are cross. Where do we go?

Having just shafted them in this referendum, and now denigrating them in comments such as that above, it would be understandable for them, when in positions of authority and power, to tell you to go and take a running jump when looking for your pension rise (or even more risible, your winter fuel allowance).

Didn't take long for your morals to go out the window.
I personally find all this talk about the divide between the elderly and the young very sad. To say Pensioners have shafted the young is wrong and then to be threatened is completely out of order.

Unfortunately it is a lot of humans nature that when they lose they have to keep trying to find excuses to try and reverse the said loss. They will try anything, on this particular subject some will sink to the lowest levels.
To even think of blaming pensioners in my opinion is utterly disgraceful, these are the same people that fought for these youngers of today. Every year in November we hear/read 'WHEN YOU GO HOME TELL THEM OF US, FOR THEIR TOMORROW WE GAVE OUR TODAY'.
Once again I will say The Referendum is finished, Remain followers get over it and please have some respect, if not for all the pensioners then at least for your own parents, grandparents and great grandparents who fought to give you today.
I have just seen two pictures, one taken in Ibiza of a half naked (not pornographic) girl lying facedown on a table with twenty 18-20 year old's absolutely out of their skulls, throwing up and pawing the said young lady. The other picture was of a patrol of 12 German soldiers walking past two 20 year old British soldiers lying in the mud.
I do not have to say the above but whilst I myself am a pensioners I know when I was in my 20's I HAD respect, not just for my own family elders but from all of them.
It's about time Remainers stopped bleeting and trying to find ANYTHING to try and reverse things.

Mmmm. Interesting. My comment is "immoral". But to lambaste ALL young people with comments such as:Dalartokat wrote:

is somehow acceptable to you?
And I threatened no-one, nor did my comment, I said it would be "understandable" if young people, when they are the ones in power, as Waz reminds us they one day will be, take into account the views of their elders.
And nowhere did I say Pensioners had shafted the young. The intention of my comment was that those who had voted "OUT", regardless of age, were the "shafters". One day, sooner or later, they will be looking for their pension/increase.

See my response above. I did not blame "pensioners". And I too quote the Kohima Epitaph every Remembrance Sunday, and at other times too. Remember who said it? The men of the "Forgotten Army" in Burma.lee666 wrote:Dalartokat

So why not try giving some respect to the young people of today? You and I have had our time, and a right mess we made of our world since our parents and grandparent made their sacrifices. But at least we haven't had another "World War" in Europe. I wonder why that might be?lee666 wrote:I do not have to say the above but whilst I myself am a pensioners I know when I was in my 20's I HAD respect, not just for my own family elders but from all of them.

This whole subject and all the different threads currently on this subject are becoming tiresome, the youth of today and the supporters of the youth of today to blame TODAY'S pensioners for Brexit is in my opinion just about as low as you can get.
If the cap fits them wear it, if not then don't.
I have tried to understand both sides of the coin on all the topics started regarding the Referendum but it's now taken me 4 days to realise the Remainers are not going to let it go. Fortunately I believe in the democratic process therefore I vote for me not to write anything further on any of the threads.
Phew, life is better already.

Mowgli597....I was referring to your posting(regarding someone looking for a girlfriend) that you made some time back, to which I "liked" as I thought you were correct to highlight...hence why I said you seemed to have had a change in morals..............

Just an observation from a Newbie but to have a topic like this in a thread which also includes people looking for a fridge freezer, a garden shed and a hammer drill (for example) seems just a little distasteful
Mods: why not start a "Contacts" or "Lonely Hearts" or whatever you want to call it thread?"

To defend the young people of the United Kingdom against such scurrilous generalisations as "most of that age group spend 30mins on the toilet wondering which hand to use to wipe their backsides" is somehow losing my moral compass, which I employed when saying that a forum member's personal plea for companionship should not be discussed in a topic dedicated to household appliances but rather in a specialised thread???Dalartokat wrote:Mowgli597....I was referring to your posting(regarding someone looking for a girlfriend) that you made some time back, to which I "liked" as I thought you were correct to highlight...hence why I said you seemed to have had a change in morals..............

I absolutely support your sentiments.
Young people of our Country are the future. I take pride in supporting them encouraging them to succeed and pushing them on to become the best in the World in whatever they chose to do. In sport, In vocation, in citizenship. etc.
People who think it credible to knock them down with so much malice are failures to themselves and the future.

Re: Petition for a second Referendum
I hope a new British Government, when elected, will call for another referendum. Since the Leave vote, the so called "scaremongering of what we are in for if we choose leave" has been proved correct with a recession around the corner. Let alone a split country! When the taxes go up, unemployment, the pensions get reduced, the NHS cripples with not enough trained UK doctors and the bus passes are stopped, perhaps the older generation will realise the damage that has been done to the UK's economics. Many people in UK I know, now wish thy had not voted leave, they did not realise the implications. The EU has 2 years plus to build factories and manufacture their parts that we make for their car plants and aircraft. The financial sector our biggest earner will be moved to Paris and London will be reduced to empty office spaces. Food will cost more to produce, unless we allow immigrants in to pick it. Even if we allow other other countries' labour to help us, the distance they would have to travel to us would in itself incur an extra cost. Any cheap food will no longer come via road as it would have to pass through Europe!
Even Turkey is now making up to Israel and Russia, as it is realising as a country you cannot go it alone without good neighbours, and agreements with them.
There are always economies of scale, look at small food shops, now we have supermarkets as they can cut the costs. A larger trading, buying organisation always has the advantage.

Hopefully when this shower take control I will be dead and gone, and if you are relying on them to earn your pension start looking for a cave to live in. Unless you can find someone who will breed sufficiently enough to get you a free council house, oh and those that do work will have to fund this type of degenerate also. And as for paying my pension I and my wife worked all our life from 15yrs old to 63yrs and I do mean all that time without once drawing benefits so don't you dare tell me they will pay for my pension I did it my bloody self through paying my taxes to fund these bloody wastrels.Mowgli597 wrote:These same people are the ones who will be paying your pension in the future.topten wrote: Give our 16-18year old a vote in the referendum you are joking, most of that age group spend 30mins on the toilet wondering which hand to use to wipe their backsides. If you're talking about the Government under the new Conservative Prime Minister, after Cameron's resignation takes effect, then that Government and Prime Minister, from all that has been said, will be selected largely from the ranks of the LEAVE supporters - that is, after all, the reason that Cameron announced his resignation, so that the LEAVE process could be organised by those who were sympathetic to the cause.
I can't see them being inclined to have another referendum, and I can't see why you would think that they would be - after all, they've got what they wanted.

Re: Petition for a second Referendum
There will not be a second referendum.
The people of the UK have decided they want to leave the EU and no longer have to be forced to accept EU laws, legislation or be part on an EU superstate with decisions made by non elected EU ministers who cannot be removed from office. The EU needs massive reform which will not happen whilst these people are coining in the money.
However, I can see other EU members having there referendums and following the lead of the UK.

There is no bucket of money sitting in a government account somewhere with the words "Money paid by Mr Topten during his working life - to be used only for his pension/NHS/social security." written on the side.
The money that you, your wife, me and everyone else paid during our working life (and beyond) paid for our grandparents' and our parents' pension/NHS/social security.
The money needed to pay for your, my and everyone else's pension etc now and in the future comes from those who are working and paying taxes now.
Some of them the very "wastrels" you are condemning.

I am inclined to agree but I will not rule it our as the LIb dems have promised one.
I see a general election for end of this year. Manifesto promises , I think will focus on options to pacify the massive support from both camps.
Parliament have full authority to hold a second vote or seek mandate from the people to change many things.
I detect already a more subdued atmosphere around securing exit. Article 50 submission is already stalled.
I see an underlying strategy.
Let BREXIT think they have what they want when really they have not.

Article 50 submission has not stalled.
The UK is in control and no EU member state can change when we submit article 50 and our official request to leave the EU. Rightly, the UK will submit article 50 when we want to and then we have up to 2 years to negotiate our exit.
You may well be sombre, but my children are not, neither am I and neither are, I would suggest, up to 17M others.
As I have said before there are numerous threads and topics re Brexit. It now reads to me as a lot of the same words, just arranged in a different order. I do detect that a lot of people are now slowly dropping out of the various topics debating the decision to leave the EU, there are few fresh arguments being put forward which make discussion viable.
I have made my decision and look forward to a better future out. No need for me to debate further to prove who was right and who was wrong. I am more than happy with my decision.

Thank you.
The BREXIT result has been entered and the debate has moved on.
It is now how the UK moves forward and to halt the clear decline that was forecast.
This debate is alive and very interesting as the political powers in the UK assess and react.
Certainly the submission of article 50 will now be a focus. Immediate or leave it for 2 years.
What indeed are the pros and cons of that?
My view is that political manoeuvring both in the UK and in Europe is on the cards.
It is very clear that every major party in UK was for REMAIN. I would expect that these politicians will still endeavour to secure that result at least in part whilst good old joe public will be none the wiser as many will simply not have any more interest. That is my view.
Your decision to vote was your democratic right. You have by virtue of that. No right to inflict damage and loss upon other people including myself.
That is why many people are cross and indeed angry. It makes it rather a bitter pill to swallow because we told you of the dangers, the cost and the damage.
You failed to listen and now it is PAY back; unfortunately for us ALL.

It says that the younger generation are cross and angry with the older generation who have sold them down the river.
I have posted the fact to enlighten those that indeed still think they have done our young people some sort or service.
How wrong could they get it.
Failed to listen to experts, politicians, leaders or apparently even their youngsters.

Waz - From the words above that you posted I can see that you are really angry by the tone of your writing, so I will make this my last post.
You are correct, I did exercise my democratic right as did all those that voted. The people have decided and as a democratic country the United Kingdom have decided to leave the EU.
Who is "we told you of the dangers" .......Who says I "failed to listen". I have never felt in any danger when casting my vote. Neither have I failed to listen. I listened to all the arguments for and against remaining in the EU and then exercised my vote.
There is no "pay back" as you say, its been 5 days and I feel more confident now than I did two weeka ago.
Good luck with your debates, I am not sure what you are trying to prove but I and others sense that it is time to move on.

Re: Petition for a second Referendum
So why was it that only 36% of 18-24 yr olds voted. The EU referendum had been discussed for months and even giving them extra time to vote. Bit hypocritical to have a go at older people. Time to make everyone accountable by way of looking at consequences if people do not votewaz-24-7 wrote:Kerry agreed.kerry 6138 wrote:It says a lot about the people who said it and anyone who would reuse it for there own endswaz-24-7 wrote:It is rather disconcerting to see reported from social media how the youngsters are continuing to reacting to BREXIT.

Fair comment and your vote is your vote.
You are doubtless paying the financial cost when you possibly change your sterling into tl or your pension investments are eroded or you fly back to the UK or the multitude of other increases as sterling falls to a 32 year low. Your £1 is just now worth about 90p that is a loss. It may be these subtle but real financial changes are not visible to you yet.
When an economy loses over 20 billion dollars over 4 days there will inevitably be some costs that filter down.
Thank you for your participation in these debates. You, of course, are not excluded

1 million people a day have signed up.
Quite staggering the level of opinion on this.
It is the most active petition ever presented to UK parliament in history.

Re: Petition for a second Referendum
If the result of a second one was opposite to the result of the first one, making it 'one all', would they have to have another one to see which one got 'Best out of three'?
And, where would it end - 'Best out of Five'?
Bloody nonsense - everyone had a chance to vote, those as wanted to vote did so as they thought best at the time, end of story.
They don't re-run General Elections just because the losers don't like the result, or the winners start having second thoughts!
It's happened.
Get over it.
Move on!

Re: Petition for a second Referendum
I think the political melt down in the UK, in the main, as the aftermath of the referendum could very possibly lead to an early general election. Its in the news and a see a developing momentum from the remain camp.
Any new Government can indeed go to the people regarding EU membership. If article 50 has not been submitted than the referendum result is void.
It is not obligatory for a new government to carry forth a referendum from an old.
There is without doubt some political manoeuvring afoot. Politics has an uncanny way of achieving objectives.
I await to hear what happened in Brussels today.
Anyone got any feedback?

I believe it was investigated 2 days ago for fraud and 77,000 signatures were removed.Becker wrote:The petition for a second referendum is fake!
It has not been removed and is currently running at just under 4 million supporters.
If it continues. Parliamentary debate is promised.
Certainly the avenues to remain in Europe are opening up.
I think a delay in article 50 submission is a political and tactical ploy.
I hope it is and we have an opportunity to put things right. If we ever should have another referendum then I say allow 16-18 yr olds have the vote.
Odds on then for the right result.

In which case government will have to rush a vote through for 16 & 17 year olds. Minimum age to vote I think is 18? God help us if this happens! From where I lived & for the youngsters I employed,if that happens, well,I dread to think! Not saying all youngsters are the same, but a good majority. The way I see it,out have won by 1,800,000 votes! The country has spoken! All the people who are predicting what will happen are clearly clueless,no one can truly predict the outcome as yet! Get a grip & lets just see what happens! Enough of give the 16 to 18 year olds the vote. Mostly they don't give a stuff just as long as they have an easy life!

Oh dear where does out future lie. With the over 60's?
Becker BREXIT is in place. The focus now is how to deal with the absolute mess it has left us in.
Last Wednesday. The UK was a strong growing economy with excellent prospects having just started recovery from the recession of 2008. Just 4 days later. Our currency has collapsed. Our economy is in downward spiral. Politics is in melt down and the very make up of the UK is under threat.
The UK credit rating is down graded from triple A rating after 40 yrs of excellent rating.
Why have you in part inflicted this on us please?
