New (Cyprus) airline
Well, a new airline based in Cyprus (ROC) - Cobalt Air - has started up this month, so we've booked a flight from Manchester to Larnaca in September - the prices seem reasonable, so we'll see how they perform...
One oddity is that while you can "book" your luggage allowance, there's no facility to reserve seats (as yet) - we'll just have to make sure we're at the front of the queue!!

Interesting article on Cobalt airlines.

They have Chinese backers and are looking at flights to China in 2017.

Did you manage to get a flight back to Manchester? We looked at going out on the 14th September for 2 week but it wasn't showing a flight back

No, we're coming back mid/late October, and (as with you) no flights back showing yet. I'll also be checking Thomas Cook, Jet2 etc. as well, so when I do actually book, whoever's cheapest on the day gets the pay!

Don't want to scaremonger or any thing , this is just my opinion.
I would be very dubious of flying into South Cyprus, as I assume as soon as article 50 is actioned, we might as in ex EU members be stopped crossing the border.

After the terrible attack on Ataturk I am planning to only fly via Larnaca in future. My son is flying via Sabiha tonight, feeling very worried at the moment.
My heart goes out to all the victims and their families.

I read somewhere recently there was some concern about them having their aviation licence revoked as one of the directors was implicated in financial fraud I think in Switzerland

Deniz1, Assuming that you are not an EU citizen or that if you are then your country is going to leave the EU you can apply for a visa to enter the Republic of Cyprus and it will be granted - however - The legal ports of entry into the Republic of Cyprus are the airports of Larnaka (Larnaca) and Pafos (Paphos) and the ports of Larnaka (Larnaca), Lemesos (Limassol), Latsi and Pafos (Paphos), which are situated in the area under the effective control of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. Entry into the territory of the Republic of Cyprus via any other port or airport in which the Government of the Republic does not exercise effective control (Turkish occupied areas) is illegal. It may become a tad (tad is a unit of measurement that equates to £1,500.00) expensive to fly from Larnaca if you have to go via Turkey then Greece first - lol.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Just tried to book flights with Cobalt for 8th until 2nd Oct.(421euros return for 2) would only get as far as payment, then locked. Called their helpline, said try again in 2 or 3 days as couldnt take payment online! Strange I thought.

We will remain part of the EU even after article 50, we don't leave until all exit agreements are in place, which we have two years agree possibly longer if necessaryBelfast Belle wrote:Don't want to scaremonger or any thing , this is just my opinion.
