Cyprus Today Crossword Puzzle

Yesterday I expended half of my weekly pocket money on a 4 lira paper and all I have gained is fever to my one brain cell. I would be grateful if anyone can advise me of the answer to 27 across the clue being "bad atmosphere" (6 letters).

Is that the standard or the cryptic crossword...and have you got any letters??

In the absence of that help the only word I can think is "miasma".

JBA. Thanks for that. Spot on. I misspelt one of the vertical answers in the "quick puzzle" but once amended "miasma" finished the task.

I once used the word 'miasma' in a letter to the council, protesting at the pong from a nearby pig farm.

I never got a reply.

Only a guess Keith, but did you enclose a pig's scat as an illustration of the pong and a note "how would you like a constant whiff of this" ?

Maybe they thought Miasma was a yellow flower with cute little yellow fluffy balls (no rude comments please) and a really lovely smell.

...Not as far as I recollect, (which isn't actually all that far) but I think that I did use the phrase "Foul miasma", and mention which establishment was responsible.

I don't think that there would have been much chance of them mistaking it for a flower - and I really thought that they should have reduced my Council Tax, balls or not...
