There is an interesting article in the (South) Cyprus Mail, commenting on the frequent anti-TRNC statements that emanate from the ROC Foreign Ministry which seem to be intended to undermine the aim of the talks between President Akıncı & President Anastasiades.

Perhaps just the South's way of saying "We are really the good guys" by doing the normal thing of pointing all blame at any Government - still I notice that they continue to call the TRNC the "Pseudo" state, so they can continue to twist the knife themselves!
Went shopping in the South yesterday - forgot it was a Public Holiday there - the place was deserted and I had the chance to look around instead of the normal traffic dodging I usually have. This time I noticed just how much the South have in the way of pavements, roads, shops, well tended boundaries, clean streets, good road traffic directions/signs, peace and quiet. It made me wonder why a Nation that has so much and considers itself to be a peaceful and helpful Nation that welcomes all, continues to pray upon its brothers and sisters (all are Cypriots) in the North, knowing the North has little they just want it all.
I can see no end to the current divide until the USA need this part of the world as well - sad but the big and powerful Nations still do make the decisions for the small and normally helpless. Decades of talks have come to nothing and always will, the TC need to go to the South to see what the RoC have and then wonder why it is they continue to want even more and more and more, they need to do it before they vote in any referendum as well.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

waddo, It all sounds a bit sanitised and sterile down South. No character!
I personally like the Higgledy-Piggledy aspect of the North.

Oh, no mistakes here, I love the North and you could not pay me to live in the "Perfect" South with all its EU laws of stupidity. It is sanitized but everything you need is there, everything you don't need as well - in fact there is so much (maybe I have lived in the land of - it might be on the next container for too long - lol) there, when there, by comparison, is so little here - it is obscene!

It was the utter overwhelming "wegotlotsizim" feeling that struck me so hard this time across. I had to wonder how, for such a poor, beaten pack of refugees, who had nothing left in the world, they managed to build such a prosperous looking place full of people that simply want more, more, more. I know that EU money helped lots but where else could the funding have come from when "allegedly" all their lands, homes and possessions were stolen from them in 1974? Well, they are welcome to it.

The TRNC should feel mighty proud of what it has built out of nothing and I for one feel very proud of them and privileged to be a guest in their country!
