Entrance to immigration at Girne changed

Don't know if this has happened recently as it's a year since we last visited but the entrance to the immigration/residency office in the police station at Girne has moved. You no longer have to go into the police station just walk past the station entrance on your left, turn left at the end of building, navigate a large tree and turn left after it into the immigration corridor, office is first right (it's still the same office).

Nobody waiting when we got there at 8.30, paperwork checked then on to hospital, blood tests at the lab, back to police station and finished by 9.30. Plus we were given some biscuits by the ladies at the police station. Very easy and quick today.

How strange, that was the entrance when I first had to go there in 2005! And the same office.

That door has always been there but it was very often locked so you had to go in via the station. Must admit I can't remember where it was in 2005 just remember the horrendous waiting around and carry on at immigration in Lefkosa when it was near the bus station. Things have improved vastly since those days.

If you do go in the main entrance you now walk straight ahead (you used to turn right) go past the staircase and turn right and walk to the end of the corridor.

We tried that but that door is now locked, there are signs in Turkish telling you to go outside and around the back. It was my 12th time and I'm fairly well acquainted with the Police station by now, believe me that this is the entrance that they want you to use. You may be lucky and that door is unlocked but yesterday it wasn't. Just trying to save some people time and frustration.

Went to immigration today and you can no longer access immigration office from main entrance. You now need to go round the corner and through the side door as the main police station has been walled off. Hope this helps.

Not getting my knickers in a twist, just trying to post something helpful and tired of getting 'corrected', sigh.
