Problems selling property
I do not know Kaiserphil's circumstances regarding the difficulties in selling property but having read his comments in other threads, as well doing research through other channels it would appear selling property in the TRNC is a nightmare from hell. Maybe I am wrong and as with most newsworthy subjects you tend to read more negatives than positives. I am sure many residents are happy but it is slightly disconcerting that there are those that feel financially trapped for whatever reason it may be. This is probably a contentious subject but would nevertheless be interesting to see what feedback this promotes.

Re: Problems selling property
Selling per se is not a problem, other than right now it is a buyers market.
The issues people are having are of the bureaucratic type such as - you cannot sell unless you have kocan or the name on the kocan agrees you can sell usually at a cost. Next, what would be our issue, no Building permit which means no mains electric which means no chance of selling. Many are coming across these issues having being oblivious for several years that they do not possess such items. I could go on but you get the message.
Others bought at the top of the market and prices have dropped and they do not want to loose out but what do you do?

teg17, I could not disagree with your statement more re: 'it would appear selling property in the TRNC is a nightmare from hell'
We have bought and sold 2 resale properties and purchased a piece of land then had a property built then sold this as well with no problems whatsoever!
In all 3 cases we did not have our kocan.
I can understand what cyprusishome is saying re: problems with building permits, boundaries, electric etc and therefore these may well cause an individual many problems with selling.
So I guess it is down to the individual case.

Re: Problems selling property
Scoobydoo, I am glad to hear that you have not had any problems. Maybe it is only my perception and as I said negatives are invariably picked upon rather than positives. If it is presently a buyer's market, as in all business, it is based on supply and demand so I guess that there are more sellers than buyers and therefore either the prices are not sustainable or that there are other forces at work which prevent buyers coming to the market.
