I am assuming that this is a British passport? Go here: https://www.gov.uk/government/world/org ... on-nicosia
You will find full details of what to do in the case of lost or stolen passports.

Re: lost passport in lapta to girne. great reward for helpin
Ok, this is getting more complicated by the minute. Can you answer the following
1. Did you walk from Lapta to Girne
2. Ride a bike
3. Hire a Taxi
4. Ride in a Dolmus
5. Were you carrying it your hand
6. Did you have it in a back pocket or a handbag
7. Were you carrying it in a Supermarket bag or similar.
8. Did you stop off in a cafe or shop when travelling from Lapta to Girne
9. Did you go yourself to a Police Station and report it missing/stolen. I would have thought that was the first thing you would have done.
I don't want to be rude, but do you honestly think Lapta or Girne police would tell us whether they have a lost Iranian passport stuck in a safe. In any case, if you are now back in Iran sure you can obtain a new one without any problem can't you.

"I will give very great reward to whom who will help me with procedure ."
Sounds similar to "send me your bank account details and I will deposit some money into it" - similar to many internet scams.

The Embassy are there to help you which ever part of Cyprus you are in, they will have contacts with the Police in the North, if your passport was handed into the Police they should send it to your Embassy.dadasalam wrote:thats south cyprus(GREEK) and different government. its not helping .

I'm sure Paul 90 is absolutely correct, I was just seeing how far this person was prepared to go with it. It'll probably die a death now.

Surely it is cheaper to get a new passport in Iran then giving someone "a very great reward" for helping!!
Of course you really should put in writing in your next post all the personal details from your passport such as passport number, date and place of issue, expiry date, full name, place of birth etc - that is if you are telling the truth.
And, of course, attach a copy of the letters from the police and immigration office.

Are you being a little 'over the top' perhaps?paul90 wrote:Surely it is cheaper to get a new passport in Iran then giving someone "a very great reward" for helping!!

In the guy's first post, he did ask for someone to say whether they were willing to help - he would then presumably send them his details, rather than post them on here.
He also said that the reason for wanting to find his original passport, rather than simply applying for a new one, was that (in IRAN ?) he would have to wait for 6 months before he could get another passport.
I know that his English is slightly fractured, but it seems reasonably straightforward to me.
If you are sufficiently security-savvy, offer to help him, and then you'll find out

Hi Dadasalam, I live in Esentepe which is some distance from Girne and I do not be there often. If you send me basic details I will visit Girne police aeration in the next few days and let you know. If you cannot email me through kibcom just let me know and I will post my private email address. I do not want any reward, I would just like to repay some of the kind hospitality I received in my visits to Iran. Best wishes.

I would be very surprised if the police would hand-over a passport to anyone other than the owner or a consular official... I would certainly be worried if mine was given to someone who has no substantive relationship to me or some official position.
It sounds like you did not lose it - it sounds like your pocket was picked - there is a lucrative worldwide market for stolen passports...

He's not expecting the Police to hand over his Passport, he wants them to advise whether they have found it, so that if they have, he can possibly arrange for them to ship it to an Iranian Embassy/consular office.
Again, I appreciate that his English isn't perfect, but this is from Msg 8: -

OK point taken - I didn't see that request however can you imagine the police here being bothered to go to that trouble?Keithcaley wrote:Read again...Groucho wrote:I would be very surprised if the police would hand-over a passport to anyone other than the owner or a consular official...
