Bank Charges
I need to send £100K already in Sterling back to UK. I was shocked to be told by the bank who currently hold my account that they charge by percentage and that this transfer will cost £420 pounds sterling. Is this normal, does anyone know of a bank that charge a reasonable transfer fee?

Re: Bank Charges
Try a money transfer system, rather than any bank. There is a number of them listed via Google or any other search engine.

Good Idea but who will transfer 100K in sterling. Yes there are a number on Google but they all want to do a currency exchange as well. Western Union - no UK would touch money from Western Union.

Put £100 in an envelope and ask someone who is going back to post it for you.

Open an HSBC premier account, (100k deposit should do it) then transfer the money via electronic banking, shouldn't cost anything but time.

Re: Bank Charges
Try the Forex web page. We transferred money but it was in max of £10K tranches. However, much cheaper than any bank offer and all done on-line.

Re: Bank Charges
Thank you everyone, but now living in the South I know the suggestions other than HSBC are impracticable. I am going to try the HSBC route and see how that transpires.come_on_aylin wrote:Open an HSBC premier account, (100k deposit should do it) then transfer the money via electronic banking, shouldn't cost anything but time.
A warning to all depositors in certain, if not most TRNC banks, you are going to be ripped off when you want to send your money home. Very much the attitude that we your bank for XX years want to and will punish you for going back to UK.

Without advising me how much it would be TEB Girne charged me over £100 to transfer £20k to HSBC Girne!
