Crossing the border with American Passports
Hi,
Question - if someone arrives into Larnaca and crosses the border to the North - can they do so with American passports?
Thank you

I do not think its a problem but you must not overstay 90 days in Cyprus including time spent in the north and must enter and leave by the south.

...And that could perhaps cause a problem if they intend to ever return to Cyprus, North or South - the linked page has a paragraph headed "Only enter and exit Cyprus at Larnaca and Paphos airports..." (my underline).
So if departing from Ercan, there is no record of departing from Cyprus, and they will "overstay" the specified 90 days....
And if in future they return via Ercan to later depart from the South - "you have been here over 90 days..."; if they return VIA the South - "How did you leave? We will not allow you to enter..."

Had an American friend who worked in the north for 3 years and she came and went to the south all the time. She originally flew in to Ercan and, during her time here, flew in and out of both Ercan and Larnaca to travel throughout Europe. There were never any problems at all.

Re: Crossing the border with American Passports
USA passports can cross south only from the metahan crossing point if arrived via ercan as far as I know. Crossing at famagusta to the British base areas is not allowed I do not know why. To be always safe and save your self a wasted journey cross at metahan lefkosa.
