Flights UK to Ercan
With all the negative reports of just about every airline which has operated into Ercan from UK over the years would someone please advise just which operator is reliable!
I have flown Akdeniz, Turkish,CTA,Atlas, Onur and BA( into Larnaca) and have never had a single problem - apart from the odd(rare) delay!!

Sandman,
Everyone has different experiences with different airlines, it's like buying a car (I wouldn't touch a Fiat from experience but others would!)
Personally, I always fly with Pegasus and have never had any real problems other than an odd delay of up to an hour. Maybe I have been lucky compared to other travellers but I can only speak as I find.

I agree with scooby, you only ever here the bad things the rest of the time life goes on as normal and people do not post "normal".
Flight delays are not usually the fault of an airline, last week we were stuck at Ercan because of FOG! Luggage is always lost by the ground handlers, airline food is..... airline food, etc. Staff on aircraft are paid cr** wages to do a cr** job and sometimes they peed off with bad attitude from passengers so when some are shouted at after numerous warning to remain seated while refueling in Turkey they get what they deserve, it is international law.
So sandman, IMO, read between the lines and count the number of complaints you read on these forums compared to the number flying. Pegasus fly to the UK about 15 times a week during summer that is around 30 flights with close to 180 passengers on each. I am sure the rest is easy.

We always fly Pegasus. I agree with Cyprusishome. Compared to the number of passengers the complaints are minimal. Perhaps we are just lucky not to have had any problems with them

Usually Pegasus for us, always on time, Negatives for me very tight seat pitch so always pay the £17 for extra leg room, food and drink expensive.
Flying Atlasjet next time (This Month) and again in December better seat pitch food and drink inc no charge for seat booking.
Flew many years ago with onur almost as bad as Aeroflot.

Yes, Onur Air were terrible. Cabin crew often smoked in the forward toilet.
One of the rear toilets was usually 'out of order', but was actually filled with crew's belongings.

Why? Do you think they make it up for some reason? Whatever company you are talking about there will always be someone who has had a bad experience, and they will probably be in the minority, or the company would no longer be operating.
I had a bad experience with Pegasus, and I will say so if asked. OK?

phil,
I do not think any of us deny you or anyone the right to quote a bad experience, what I do not like to see is people refusing to, for example, fly with an airline on one or two complaints out of millions of passenger journeys. What I would like to see happen is that any company where a complaint such as yours is highlighted would pick up on it and correct the problem for future passengers. This is something that Pegasus do not seem to wish to learn, the issue of pre booked seats is an issue that keeps coming up and our travel agent actually says do not bother booking seats as it is a waste of money. A point I agree with.
Tripadvisor has actally been taken to task over what appears to be claims away from the norm and investigations have found that people have deliberatley, for whatever reason, exagerated positive or negative issues at hotels. They have been in danger of being sued by hotels for lack of business due to incorrect and scurilous complaints placed on their site.
Maybe when you return to live here Phil (ouch) you will enjoy the delights of our wonderful choice of airlines now.

sandman,
Phil does not need chill pills, he is one of the lucky ones that escaped the corruption, fraud etc his wallet still with some kuros left in it. I think he shows his real feelings for North Cyprus in that he will still come for holidays.
OOPPSS sorry, back on topic. I listened to an interview other day with Michael O'Leary, boss of Ryanair. I have like his attitude for many years and like or loathe him his airline works. He gets complaints most are to the cost structures for non compliance and his answer is "read the instructions" and if you do not it is your own fault. Total complaints were in region of almost unmeasurable out of 80 million passenger journeys.

Absolutely right David. Mind you, I could write a book about the viewers I had round to see my house!
Just had to laugh about them, or scream.
But then, unlike many other poor devils, I did eventually sell it. And then I met my fantastic Wife in Germany, so all's well that ends well.
