He legally bought the potato's in bulk for exporting to Greece and the UK. He had to be protected by Sovereign Base Police. What chance do any peace talks have if a near riot ensues because of a wagon load of spuds?

I wonder what Lurucinalli has to say about this - kind of blows all his arguments out of the water!

If you are going to do something you do it properly. You can't take things out of context and blow it of all proportions and then generalise and attack the current talks that are going on now.

Read the original article which explains there was 3.93 million euros worth of trade through the southern ports in from TRNC in 2015. This like the other incident of a car being attacked will become clearer as time goes on. It turns out the young men in the car had a run in with some thugs and made it look like it was an attack on innocent civilians.

At this point there is not enough information regarding the origin of these potatoes. Some GCs object to their fields being used to grow potatoes and then sell them in the south or in the EU. Other GCs object to Turkish produce from Turkey being dressed TC and sold. Time will tell what this is but yes 200 protesters out of 800,000 GCs did do what this article says.

What exactly has this got to do with the talks? Other than those who are totally opposed to them clutching at straws, any straw will do. The point of BBF is the Embargoes will go and we shall have our own ports with our own state with our own police and justice system. What have you got to lose in such an arrangement.

Consider the opposite, no agreement we become part of Turkey and in 10 years time ladies in your life will not be able to walk in the street without a male relative or their face showing.

Its difficult to know if you are joking not but You sound like the typical uninformed racist from the UK.

Aside from offering the freedoms found in UK/USA already i.e allowing islam to be studied in school, permitting the head scarf to be worn what else has he done that makes you seriously think that?

Additionally, how convenient of you to believe the later determined excuses the ROC manages to come up with to explain away these behaviors each and every-time.

Honestly, this article highlights perfectly the issues we are actually facing which is that there are people in ROC (a significant percentage) that absolutely HATE the Turkish Cypriots as much as they did when they were murdering us.

How many people outside of that Greek mans circle could possibly have found out about his business deal? Its not anything political, its potatoes, yet they are happy to burn down the business of their own compatriot as an example and they managed to find 200 people through word of mouth!

Lurucinalli, whenever I listen to a speech by Turkish leaders like Erdogan and Yildirim (and their two predecessors), they seem like very reasonable people and most of the people love him (Erdogan) because he speaks to them like he is one of them. He is a strict muslim and as such doesn't like a lot of the excesses in Western society but I don't believe he is the animal that the GCs paint him as. You seem to suffer from the same xenphobia as they spout. There are plenty of expats living in Turkey, I don't hear of any of them being forced to do anything against their will. Anyway, good to see you getting a bit animated and hot-blooded in your reply above. Still think you're wrong though!

Word of mouth? in this age of uncontrolled media with internet at our fingertips on our mobiles?
200 people is a sizeable percentage of Elam party members btw

So you are saying that this non-issue went to social media and did the round amongst the Greek Cypriot population?

Presumably then there were significantly more reasonable GCs protesting their racism and, as you would find in the UK without fail, where a racist demonstration is due to take place there is a counter demonstration?

Now, either it was big on social media but there was no one who found it unacceptable enough - in the whole of south Cyprus - to arrange a counter demonstration OR it was by word of mouth and in this mans village ALONE there were 200 people including local politicians that are totally racist against TCs.

Please let me know which, in your opinion, it was. But face it either way this is no atmosphere to begin any negotiation, let alone to conclude one, no sensible man would disagree on that.

The Cyprus Mail in the South and its commentators seems to agree with most of us on here, looks like Lurucinalli is in the right-wing fascist, extremist, GC Elam, Solidarity camp. Give it up mate, you're obviously a wolf in sheep's clothing. If you are a Turkish Cypriot, which I am not sure you can be, then you have some very strange ideas.

So what you are saying is because of these 200 people demonstrating in a violent manner the talks should be stopped. Ironically that is why Elam actually is so active in these violent demonstrations, that is exactly what they would like too. Elam's and your thinking are in perfect tune as was Papadopoullos and Serdar Dengtash before the 2004 vote. They also tried everything they could to stop the talks and stop the vote too.

Is that not ironic that you don't want an agreement and nor does Elam.

Who lives a fantasy island? I agree with 60% of the TC population and you do not. I leave you to judge that.

Has there been a vote to get you to the 60 % ?

I think he is referring to a vote that was conducted 12 years ago and he is therefore saying that it isn't possible for anything significant to have occurred during the span of over a decade to have altered the levels of support and therefore the support for the annan plan at 60% represents the levels of support for a resolution at any cost today, 12 years later, in spite of severe and repeated incidences like the one mentioned in this thread.

That, to summarize, is the kind of warped logic you are arguing with when engaging Lurucinali on this particular topic.

I really don't know how many times I have to highlight the glaring flaws in your ideologies/logic, and not only myself as I see Frontalman consistently doing the same, before you begin to reconsider your stance on this topic.

Maybe not even reconsider entirely but to open your mind a little and accept that at least we are not in the right social climate to come to an agreement with even a single event like the one posted about here occurring in the recent past. It is simply too high risk.

I do not think your heart is in the wrong place now having seen your posts for a while, at first I wondered if you were a GC just trolling the forum, but I think you are just being far too innocently optimistic in the face of the obvious.

Edit:- I do also just want to point out, if you consider the levels of support as represented by the 2004 vote then you also believe the Greeks will still vote 70% NO to any agreement, and therefore there is still no agreement to be had according to your line of thought there. I'm not trying to be insulting but this is the kind of glaring inconsistency I was referencing above.

I think he's refering to the TC's who voted for Acinci on a pro settlement ticket.

And so many other names. "Dryboak" and "Rifleman Fisher" among them.

No yet, but if I am right, he will be eventually. His usual stunt is to gradually become more and more objectionable, until he is banned. He is soon back under another name.

I think he has another persona on the forum, another of his traits. Wonder if you can guess who it is?

Claiming to be a GC or TC was another trait.
