Cost of residency?
I would be grateful if anyone who has renewed for 2 years recently could tell me the current cost.
Thank you in advance

Thanks, don't know whether they will let me get 2 years as I'm under 60 but my husband isn't.

Re: Cost of residency?
My wife and I had a similar age quandary a few years ago. After several renewals and then in her 58th+ year of birth, they allowed a 2-year 'visitor' visa stamp, as when next she renewed it, she would be past the 'magical age'. I hope this helps, but as you no doubt know, things change daily at different desks with different interpretations of the rules. Hey ho, Cyprus shrug and move on! Let us know how you get on please.

When we renewed ours a couple of weeks ago we thought we would try for two years without much hope, my husband is 60 next year and I am 57 in October so we were great fully surprised when she said yes, such a nice feeling to not have to go through that next year although I know it is easier these days.

Re: Cost of residency?
How times have changed - I wonder what is happening? Two years ago we renewed ours, I got the 2 years because I am an old git but my wife was refused! We had to renew in the September and she was not 60 till the October, less than 1 month later! Just wonder now if this is like the car tax thing that seems to be happening? I renewed my car tax this morning amidst lots of muttering from local people that the tax is going to be stopped in January/February next year so why do they have to pay for a full year? A lot of them went for 6 months - wish I had now - lol.

Re: Cost of residency?
We too paid our annual car tax this morning. ( We tried to do it on Friday, arrived at 8.30 am, hung around for fifteen minutes and were then told they wouldn't be issuing any renewals that day because a new system was being installed.) We paid for twelve months this morning. If they are doing away with car tax and putting it on the price of petrol in January, we and many others should be entitled to a refund of the overpayment we've made.

WotNoDeeds, indeed you should. However, I give you a personal experience. Our local area moved from Bahçeli to Esentepe about 4 years ago. I went to register our property to Esentepe Belediye for the annual tax and having produced to the desk officer the contract was charged a fee which we paid and so on for the next 2 years. Later, a neighbour with exactly the same type and footprint of property queried why I was paying so much more than him. Back to the Belediye for investigation. It transpires I had been charged on the land area, not property footprint and was owed over 500 YTL. I asked for reimbursement - Cyprus shrug. Asked for credit for future bills - Cyprus shrug. I then took our case to Girne Land Office - Cyprus shrug! Another expat cash cow rip-off and they wonder why expats are leaving in droves. However, good luck with your particular case.

Your face must fit just nicely come_on_aylin I'm well under 60 and been here since 2002 and spent lot of money here one way or the other and I'm lucky if they spit on me when I go up for residency ? like many others I've had enough of the attitude towards ex-pats and I'll be moving on. Glad you got it though .

We've had the run around too, it just depends who you get on the day. We took Turkish lessons for 6 years and find that, sometimes not always, requests are received more favourably if you ask nicely in Turkish. I can understand what you're saying though, the latest debacle over water is enough to make anyone throw the towel in.
