Re: Grease at the Abbey.....Show only tickets now also on sa
Are there " show only " tickets still available and are there any contingencies for bad weather .
Reason I ask is that the last concert was in the open air and I don`t suppose there will be the option of a refund if the show is cancelled at the last minute.

Dear LooseBoots
We have 10 dinner tickets still available and many more of the 'show only' tickets..Pls call(if dinner ticket required) or visit one of the outlets for show only tickets.
We have been tracking the weather in detail as you can imagine and the most acurate forcasts (as used by mariners) show mostly clear skies all afternoon and evening...thankfully!
In the very unlikely event that the show had to be cancelled, all tickets would be transfered to a future performance of the clients choice.
If for some reason that were not possible (i.e.Holiday maker) we would look at each case individually.
But we are confident there will be no issue on the night...Hopefully we will not be eating our words!
Regards

Dear FlowerFairy
The 2 course meal consists of either...and you can select the choice on the night:
Themed meal of Home made burger/cheese burger and chips/salad with a coke float desert (Amercian Diner Style!)
or
A selected chicken dish from the Menu with normal sides and a mixed fruit desert.
Portions will be generous.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn`t your advert on your website advertise a 3 COURSE MEAL ............that means that those that don`t eat fruit are paying 48TL for 1 course???EntertainCyprus.com wrote:Dear FlowerFairy

Dear Looseboots
No where on the website does it state a 3 course meal so we do indeed correct you with that statement.
It has always been a 2 course meal, although Cyprus Today stated wrongly 3 course.
We are unsure where you have a figure of 48tl for the meal?...show only tickets(no seating) have no relation to the allocated seating and dinner tickets.

Funny you should state that. Do you think I would make it up. On your website :www.entertaincyprus.com there are several banners which flash on the screen one is for grease at the Abbey which clearly states at the bottom in CAPITAL BLACK LETTERSEntertainCyprus.com wrote:Dear Looseboots

We apologise to Loose boots..he is indeed correct...we missed that on the banner but it was removed from the write up long ago...clearly a mistake on our part.
All ticket outlets were aware of the fact it is a 2 course meal...we fully apologise for the confusion with the banner on the website.

Hey, EntertainCyuprus. What is the seating for meals. Is it first come first served for seating????? If so, we will have to get there at a reasonable hour, but when you say doors open at 7 a nd meal at 8, what do we do in the meantime? Buy drinks?
Please clarify so I can arrange my timetable for the day. Thanks ever so much in advanc e for helping me on this one.

Actually I think it works out to £35 in a place where the cost of living is supposed to be lower than U.K. However, I do think it was a little early for you to praise something that hadn't actually happened. Surely priase is due after you have a lot of satisfied customers? I think theere were, but theere seemed to be a disappointment over the food as those who got burgers (and they had to ask for them) got just that, a burger with chips. did the second course arrive? But kybele had a tremendous task in feeding all those people and fetching their drinks etc, but it certainly wasn't the usual Kybele standard. But there seemed to be a lot of happy people that I hope will post on here to share their thoughs. but as I say, I don't thinkk you can priase it before it happens. and of coursee, when comparing don't forget it is the old old story of 'you pays your money aand you takes your choice'. A west end theatre cannot compare with Bellapais, or vice versa.
So what do others think?

thanks Soner for the explanaiton, or people would think I was going completely nutty referring too something that did not exist. a wise decision on your part and as Boss it is good thaat you are in control. thanks.
I look forward to hearing how others enjoyed the show - a concert as Soner says by a gorup of very energetic, proffesional youngsters, but I think the word 'Grease' had everyone thinking it was THE show.

Re: Grease at the Abbey.....Show only tickets now also on sa
The meal was very disappointing. We did not get a choice as stated..................what happened was that the chicken meal was thrust on the tables before anyone could ask for the burger.................and the chicken dish HAD NUTS IN IT.....good job 112 were in attendance as there could have been someone with an allergy to nuts.
Then a couple of people were determined, as they missed out on the burger , to have the coke float. Well, at our table a coke was delivered and was going to be charged as a drink....reason
....the manager didn`t know what a coke float was...........
As to the show .............well getting the audience to sing the songs may work for some people but I had paid, what I thought was a steep price ( my own opinion ), for them to entertain me.
It was supposed to be Grease but there was a high percentage of songs from 50`s ,60`s etc but def not from Grease.
There seemed to be a number that enjoyed it but this is the second show i have been to that have not lived up to the hype or as advertised.
Won`t be going back in a hurry,sorry.

I am fortunate that I love nuts, but I appreciate it oculd be dangerous for some. Did the second course arrive? You osund very disappointed. What did others feel. there seemed to be a l,ot of people happy to wave their arms and sing, but I too was expecting the show and not a concert - polished though it was.

Well yes I was disappointed. I realise that they had a large number to serve but having gone from the 3 courses that was still advertised on the banner on the website to a choice of 2 courses......." we were not given the choice............"Marions wrote:I am fortunate that I love nuts, but I appreciate it could be dangerous for some. It was obviously convenient for them to plonk the food down and run....which is what happened...........the same happened to the fruit , which was the second course.
As I mentioned the choice as we were told beforehand on here by EC was fruit or a coke float ( american diner style ). They had no idea what that was. Leaving the concert aside , if I pay for a meal i do not expect to be there just for their convenience.
I will say no more except that instead of coming away with a memory of a great night I come away with a memory to forget it.
That said ...that is only MY PERSONAL OPINION.

THAT WAS THE NIGHT THAT WAS'NT - very very disapointing.
Like you say Looseboots not good at all. We came away very hungry and I am sure that there will have been many wraps, pides, lahmacuns and any other quick food sold at eateries down on the main road. Will we go again, I doubt it.

Maybe Kybele should not have agreed to have this kind of event. They are used to catering for large wedding parties, but a crowd of this size calls for very specialist catering which is outside kybele's norm. I washungry but resisted the temptation to get more food, although I did have a mouthful or two of my escort's chocolate cake purchased later, elsewhere! But paying 38tl for a one course meal which I had no idea of what it was and to ahve no vegetables or salad was a bit OTT. Maybe it will be third time lucky, and maybe it would be better at the amphitheatre or one of the larger hotels that can cater, but the setting is so magical it would be good if someone they could get it right third time. A very difficult thing to organise, but I would still like to hear form any who felt they really got value for their money. I got the feeling that for a lot of maybe holidaymakers it was a bargain and magical.

I for one enjoyed it!!! I didn't go with any expectations though. Looking at how many they catered for I wasn't expecting an a la carte meal. Granted it could have been served quicker and therefore it would probably have been hot, but on the whole the night was enjoyable. The more they do of these nights the better they will get.
We went to have a good night out and maybe we were lucky we sat with like minded people and enjoyed the company as well as the singing.

The first function that EntertainCyprus organised at the Abbey earlier this year was a definate success. A 3 course meal was served during which a female violinist played beautiful background music. The 'main event' was outstanding and based on this previous experience we bought tickets for last night. Also we believe that the tickets earlier this year were slightly cheaper than they were last night. Unfortunately the two events do not compare..........so why was it so disappointing last night? Perhaps someone from Entertain Cyprus would be prepared to comment?

We, like Brend had a brilliant evening. I went out not knowing what to expect. I was amazed at the number of people who
were there, therefore I'd already decided that no way were we going to have a choice of main course. There just wasn't enough
staff to cope with that amount of people.
When the food arrived, it was very dissapointing, we had desert plates and forks put on our table, then about half an hour later,
the waiters came and whizzed them away, so no dessert.
We just did the Cyprus shrug and got on with enjoying ourselves.
I can only imagine that the organisers were also disappointed with Kybele.

From what I saw, the food was the main problem.........no choice of main course. The chicken came out first, the hamburgers later. The chicken had nuts in the sauce (a little bit risky, if anyone had a nut allergy). You couldn't see what you were eating. No 'Coke Floats' as advertised. When on e was requested by one table, they were told they could order a coke from the bar !!! Fruit platter came out very late. A lot of people having already left the restaurant. The show was ok, lots of songs not in the musical though. And why , only 2 out of the 4 performers sang ??? A bit disappointed that there was only one costume change (by one girl, towards the end) of the second half. I could go on picking, but it was basically an enjoyable evening, but over-priced for what one received.

Libby, I wish we had done the same as you or something similar. With a couple of drinks each on top it ended up costing us near enough 250tl for what ended up being some cold chicken dish (with the added nut gamble) with rice and chips and 2 people singing some songs, most of which were from the 60s not Grease. It seems that here they think that we will put up with any rubbish at any price. From now on, if I want to see some entertainment I will go elsewhere in the world, even adding the price of travel would be better value. That said, I must say that Children in Need seem to be able to put on a decent night. Still not cheap, but at least you normally get what you pay for and the charity makes money too.

Yes Zarafet, Children in Need functions are generally well worth doing and, as far as I know, their fundraising is accountable.zarafet wrote:Libby, I wish we had done the same as you or something similar. From now on, if I want to see some entertainment I will go elsewhere in the world, even adding the price of travel would be better value. That said, I must say that Children in Need seem to be able to put on a decent night. Still not cheap, but at least you normally get what you pay for and the charity makes money too.
Just for info, Grease ( the show ) is currently touring the UK. Prices start from..............................wait for it.............................£12.00!!!

entertainment Cyprus.com, I really think it's about time you put some kind of defence comment on here. I'm
sure you were dissapointed too. If you want our continued support, it needs to be said.

Re: Grease at the Abbey.....Show only tickets now also on sa
In my opinion the main thing about Saturday was the show, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also went to the last one. I too enjoyed the last one more, but that's not to say that this one was any better, just a different type of music, like comparing 'We Will Rock You' to 'Les Miserables', totally different, it's a matter of taste.
The restaurant did let the evening down with the food, but that said it was still a fantastic night. The singers and dancers must have worked so hard to put it all together.
The only Grease tickets I can find for £12.50 in UK are 'Sing a long a Grease' movie and I gather some people didn't enjoy the audience participation, I thought this was great fun! And everyone was singing along anyway where I was sitting.
As for the cost of living being cheaper here Marion, well I wish someone would tell that to Kibtek and the gas companies!
Well done again Entertain Cyprus for another great night, roll on the next one! It would be good to have your input about the evening.

Dear Customer
As a number have stated above, we too were extremely disappointed with both the service on the evening and indeed the meal itself....what was arranged with the restaurant was simply not delivered as promised!
While we are an event production/promotion company and as such rely on the expertise and experience of the venues we select to deliver their side of the arrangement, we fully accept overall responsibility falls at our feet.
To say we are disappointed with the restaurant and the damage that has been caused to our, until now, good reputation would be a gross understatement!
However, statements made above such as 'third time lucky' make no sense at all as our previous event at Kybele was an astounding success and inflammatory statements such as 'good job 112 were in attendance' simply to highlight one's point serve no purpose....In our opinion.
In relation to the show itself, all advertising promised a show of all the hits from GREASE to be performed by two of the leads from the UKs hit production...with professional dances from the show....what we delivered were all the hits from GREASE performed by the 2 lead roles from the hit show with professional dancers from the show!
As we produced the show please take it from us, of all the songs performed on the evening all but 2 were from the show/film GREASE! So statements above that the songs were just 50’/60s songs is simply untrue and completely misleading....if anyone would like the full song list please do contact us via email.
We collected over 140 comment cards from the tables and save 2 quite rude comments, the rest were clearly stating what a fabulous night they had, thanking us and looking forward to the next one!.....with many also stating how disappointed they were with the meal.....which we fully and completely agree with.
We also have a video of the evening clearly showing the vast majority, singing, dancing and thoroughly enjoying themselves......a clear indication of their view of the show and confirmation of our opinion of its overall success.

Re: Grease at the Abbey.....Show only tickets now also on sa
In relation to costs of the evening, while some people seem to think they understand both the cost of doing business in the TRNC and the cost of producing shows of any kind when professional acts are brought in from outside the TRNC, we assure you were you to actually understand the costs involved, ticket prices would make far more sense.
The stated fact that the cost of living is cheap here, which we are sure most would agree is a little out of touch these days, has no relation to the ticket cost once you deduct the cost of items such as KDV....Cost of acts.....Cost of flights...cost of UK studio hire for rehearsals...cost of accommodation....cost of staff.....Sound, lighting and production costs....ticketing costs...advertising and printing costs....venue costs....the list goes on and on.....all for only 1 nights show!....then you would clearly understand the cost of tickets are simply impossible to reduce!
We are trying to bring high end entertainment to the TRNC and provide an evening’s entertainment and meal for under 100tl (£34.00) and while we accept things did not go to plan with the meal on this occasion, the show itself was as promised and was high quality professional entertainment provided by the lead roles as advertised and promised!
As is clear from this forum, it is impossible to please the majority all of the time and we fully beleive the meal has caused many who would have otherwise enjoyed the evening overall, to outright condem the entire show due to bad feeling caused by the meal....which we fully understand.
We do whole heartedly apologise for the disappointment with the meal and sincerely hope this will not affect your potential future patronage of our events...Please rest assured we will never again be involved with a situation such as the issue with the meal on Saturday evening....Our intention is to provide high quality entertainment in the TRNC for a long time to come...we are fully aware this will not be achieved with meals and service such as that which was provided to us on Saturday evening.
We will be researching alternative venues and will also insure that for any future event we will list the menu in full detail from the outset to remove any confusion.
We hope this reply has answered some of your concerns but if any client would like to discuss this or any issue in more detail please do send us an email as opposed to expecting answers via this forum.
Kind regards
Entertain Cyprus

Re: Grease at the Abbey.....Show only tickets now also on sa
Thanks for putting your side of the 'argument' and I DO agree with you that you can't please all of the people all of the time. I know there were complaints about the last one, but again from those whose expectations were probably different from others.
There was one comment made to me that it might be better to have the show running for several nights, but I do appreciate that is extra accommodation costs etc, etc and it is difficult to have a sell out for severalnights to make it a viable option.
I also know others have suggested venues that they will speak to you about, and one assumes that if you are doing more in the winter, you will be indoors anyway, and presumably in a venue which is used to catering for large numbers.
Kybele normally provides a good service, so I reckon theyoverstretched themselves and did no good to anyone and that is a shame.
By the way I wanted the names of the dancers. I looked up the web page but can find nothing (probably me being inefficient. Pleaswe post them or send them to me by p.m. or e mail.
I assume that the four of them put this act together and are performing it in many other venues, as it was very slick, professional and extremely well rehearsed - oh and I never saw a flyer! My failing, but maybe the failing of others and that is why the expectations were for a performance of Grease. But done and dusted now. I know several people 'had the time of their lives' and others swear 'never again'. As you say ' ou cna't please all the people all of the time' and I for one hope that next time WILL be third time lucky and you get NO complaints - but then this is cyprus and we are all humans, so maybe that is an expectation too far.
